Hi all from the Atlanta area. I知 brand new here and this is my first post. I値l tell the short version of my tale ofwoe and we値l go from there. I知 a longtime Porshe racing enthusiast (I致e built 3 vintage (full scale)
hot
rod 911ssince 1995) and was highly influenced in the early 1980s from watching firebreathing 935s at the Camel GT at Road Atlanta. About 12 years ago, I finally found and bought an Entex(originally Eidai) 1/8 scale Porsche Turbo RSR kit that I壇 wanted since itfirst came out. My intention all alonghas been to build it patiently and ultimately construct a diorama to display itin. Over the course of the past 12years, I致e worked on the kit (off and on) and accumulated as many 1/8 scalediorama props as I could find (I have tool chests, a working hydraulic enginehoist, jack stands, photo-etched wrenches, etc.). I've completed the engine, chassis, interior and the body hasbeen primed and painted. The part ofthis that I致e dreaded from the day I acquired the kit was and is the decalapplication. I知 sure some of you mayhave seen the
decal
sheet for this model and the Martini stripes have to beapplied to many radical compound curve surfaces. There is not a lot of information about these kits on theinternet but I did read some time ago about how delicate these decals are(coupled with the fact that the
decal
sheet is now some 35+ years old). Well, I have begun applying some of thesimpler decals (flat surfaces, etc.). The first couple of SHELL decals went on ok (I知 using MicroSet andMicroSol to get them to lay down good and flat. I gained some confidence but upon wetting a Bilstein shock
decal
,it simply fell apart while still on the paper before I attempted to move it. These smaller decals I知 capable ofreplicating with graphics software and
decal
paper. I知 really worried about the large multicolored Martini stripesthough. I was wondering if anyone herecould recommend someone to reproduce theses large stripe waterslidedecals. I知 thinking newly producedreplicas may be easier to manipulate than the antique decals I have. My desire all along has been to finish thecar to its original livery but I don稚 see that happening with the existingdecals. Any help/input will be greatlyappreciated. I値l post some photos ofthe progress of this labor of love a little later. Thanks...
