Don - Need a little carburetor help.
Do I have a photo of the correct carburetor?
Presume the gas inlet is the large pipe thread on the upper left?
Where would this be on the model carb?
What is the smaller pipe inlet middle bottom?
Or better yet can you post your carb picture again with some plumbing Alternative TDR Hemi 426 detail notations for us desk jockeys?

Syd give me a little time to round up some good pics on the Carter AFB, there were a lot of variations on this carb and it was used on a number of different vehicles, everything from electric, vacuum to an engine heated coil spring for chokes were used...not to mention vacuum lines for the distributor advance etc. I'll go through the archives and find you something that's close to period correct. Some drag cars even took the the secondary flap out of the rear carb altogether when using progressive linkage...talk about an on off switch.

Lets see if I understand all I know from the plethora of information posted.

Images 1 and 2 have elements identified as best I could. Image 3 shows the mounting.

Do not understand the connection identified as possible fuel return? Believe this might be where a breather hose from the valve covers could go???

    Help!

Syd, sounds like you are going to detail it to the max. I've got to go to the shop this morning to close a deal but while I'm there I'll take look the Hemi Road Runner engine over we have at the shop. Specifcally the hose and fuel hook-ups and walk you through it when I get in this afternoon.

Appreciate the extra effort Don. I want to detail this build but even if I can't handle the carburetor detail to the max I know HFC will need the info for his REAL detail work.

Thanks Syd. The carbs are usually my weakest link when it comes to the Carters. The other parts are sitting under a coat of Mr. Surfacer.

Okay guys, glad to help. I went out on the showroom floor this morning and pulled the air filter off a $90,000 1969 Hemi Road Runner and took some pics just for you guys.
You'll notice that the carbs are Edelbrock, but that's just an improved version of the original Carter AFBs (AVS). Externally for all intent and purposes they are the same. There are some visible differences looking down the throats but in 1/8th it's a moot point. You may notice that the distributor advance has been plugged, the owner installed electronic MSD ignition and it was no longer needed...if you want to keep the stock vacuum advance, there should be a hose running from the vacuum pot on the side of the distributor to the back of the front carb. Also I've seen these beasts with 2 in-line fuel filters one in each line just before the carbs. Rather than write chapter and verse here...look the pics over and feel free to ask questions, I'll answer them as best I can. These pics can be enlarged simply by clicking them.

OK! - If we can't fake it from this we are a lost cause. Thanks for the extra effort.

By the way.....the hose from the right hand breather cap can go to the back of the intake manifold or the air filter near the rear carb. The left side (stock) should in the real world contain the PCV valve and can go to carb vacuum source....things were a lot simpler back when we used road draft tubes.....but that's a no, no as far as the greenies are concerned and big brother is going to keep us safe in spite of ourselves......

Syd, just a heads up.......as you are already aware this RP Alternative TDR Hemi 426 stuff is a tad thin in some cases so that we can hold parts as close to scale as we can within the limits of what we are dealing with. It is what it is and to perhaps save you a little grief.....use extra care finishing the exhaust nubs and alternator bracket if you use them. I had to fudge and beef these parts up while finishing for resin Alternative TDR Hemi 426 casting Alternative TDR Hemi 426 , they are okay for a one off Alternative TDR Hemi 426 build but too fragile to cast (easy to break if you get in a hurry).

I'm not posting my resin Alternative TDR Hemi 426 build, after seeing the sterling job you did with your Offy I'm sure your 426 will be very helpful to the guys that are new to this RP Alternative TDR Hemi 426 material.....many thanks.

Gramps, you've hit the jackpot. If I can't duplicate the carbs from those pics, like Syd says, I'm in a world of hurt. This is way better than anything I have in storage or in any books. Thanks a billion for the help.
