This is the buildup we'll be starting together this evening.... If I can get this little guy to stop biting me. This one going to be a box stock Buddy and Guido's '66 GTO buildup buildup with the kit's mags instead of the stock rally wheels. More pictures will be posted later.

Here's 2 closeups of the box cover and the body without the wild tiger in the way. (Now he's famous) This kit will be painted and glued together using the step by step instructions. I'll start on step #1 tomorrow. It'll be the 3 deuces and a 4-speed... and a 389 motor. Gee..Where did I hear that from??

Yup! I'll send this one out with the display case that I mentioned about on another thread I do have another kit just like that I'll keep for myself. I plan on building that one as a weekend strip car. Maybe I should build both at the same time???

Hey Guido, it looks like you have a scaled down tiger to put in your tank. Great photo.

Yeah! That's my new littte buddy. It's a good thing that I found him on my front door step at around 2:30 in the morning.... It was 36 degrees outside and the poor kitten was freezing to death and I wasn't about to let that happen. He's about 4 months old. I just can't believe he was thrown out in the cold like that. It's a dang shame what some folks will do to get rid of a pet. Well, he's mine now!

Well, enough of the little wild tiger.. Time to get down to business. In these 2 shots are some of the items I'll be using today for the GOAT build. The first pic shows a couple of dollar store items I picked up a while back. A pack of 36 emery boards and a pack of 4 diamond nail files that run for only $1.00 per pack. total price: 2 bucks +tax. The other pic shows some of the household items which includes blue painters tape, nail clippers. sprue Buddy and Guido's '66 GTO buildup cutters which you could pick up at any of the wal-marts stores in the sewing supply aisleway for under 5 bucks. (great investment) And a pair of sissors. I'm on roll today so I'll try and get done as much as possible without rushing into things.

I started on step #1 today by snipping off some of the 389 Pontiac V8 engine components from the sprue Buddy and Guido's '66 GTO buildup tree Buddy and Guido's '66 GTO buildup . After sanding Buddy and Guido's '66 GTO buildup off all the little nubs and some flash Buddy and Guido's '66 GTO buildup off the parts, I test fitted the major components together to make sure everything lines up. Perfect! Next I pressed the parts on a piece of tape to hold them in place while they were spray painted. The instuctions called for Pontiac engine blue paint from Model Master which I bought and missed placed it. So, I ended up using a can of Dupli-Color bright blue metallic Buddy and Guido's '66 GTO buildup which is a close match... Just a few shades darker. Instead of painting the tri-power intake manifold the same color, I chose to brush paint it Rustoleum aluminum paint just for added detail. The instuctions called for Model Master gunmetal grey for the exhaust manifolds which I also painted by brush.
One item you could hardly see is the distributor base which I painted aluminum also..... Pics down below.

I'll be doing more painting on the engine/trans halves a little later on once the blue paint dries.. For now, I'll get started on the 3 deuce carbs by stripping the chrome off and painting those with Model Master brass paint. I'll also paint the oil filter gloss orange and distributor cap in gloss black. Man, this is fun!

Now you can say you got a tiger in your tank. And it's in scale too.

Got the trans brush painted in aluminum and also added some brass paint on the block freeze plugs and also cylinder head bolts. Everything on step #1 will be ready for assembly later this afternoon. I will be starting on step #2 (chassis detail) after the 389 motor is complete. The second pic shows how I scrape Buddy and Guido's '66 GTO buildup chrome from the bottom of the valve covers. Just a couple of light strokes back and forth lengthwise on the diamond file should be enough to remove chrome for the glue to stick.

I'm jumping the gun on this step...Here's a quick tip on removing the nubs on the tires when you get to that stage. I used the finger nail clippers to clip those off. The tires come out perfectly round if done right. No knife required!!
