Here is a new opportunity to display your large scale motor car work. Follow the link below. This project has occupied some of my time getting it up and running along with other committee members.

This event is an offshoot of the Glenmoor Gathering with much larger and renowned venue. Everything you need to know is in the link. Enjoy!

The deadline for applications is February 15th, so far only one member of this site that I know of has entered.

We have about 24 assorted models identified that will be at the show.

This is a time to strut your stuff at one of the world's premier car events.

I just got off the phone with Louis Chenot and he will be bringing his model to the show.
Here is a link to enjoy. This is also a running engine.

Tage, not that I am aware of other than myself.. But in reviewing the entries we have a great cross section of world class large scale models that will be seen for the first time ever in one place. Anyone within driving distance should make this a destination visit. This will be the "Mecca" site of large scale modelling for the first time.

Any idea of what day(s), or where (I assume in the Ritz-Carlton) they will be displayed?

Edworth, the location has changed three times so far. Just yesterday I learned that we are now in the center of the show field with GM and Chrysler displays. We now have two tents, but stay tuned.

Here is a plug for the Amelia Island show by the Hemming's Blog. Enjoy and follow the links within the article. Enjoy! This is ramping up to be the "Mother of all Large Scale Model Shows".

The show was nothing short of absolutely spectacular!!!! Hemming's is to do an article on the event at some point. Saturday we were set up in the lobby adjacent to the R&M Auction due to extreme winds off the ocean. The crowds were great, respectful of the models and I saw many jaws dropping. Start planning now to attend next year.

We had our own photographer document the show so when I know the details of where they can be seen I will post.

But here is a taste of few of the pictures I took of the show results.

Here are the award trophies, the lighthouse is the Amelia Island lighthouse. Andy Marks did a great job in getting these done for the event.

Not surprising Louis also received the "People's Choice" Award as well.

Here is the Best in Show 1/6 scale scratch built model with a running engine as well.

This was the "Modelers' Choice" Award recipient. Richard Biggs' 1/8th scale scratch built Watson Indy racer. All done by hand and Richard does all his own aluminum, brass and bronze casting . No machine tools involved, he does not even own a drill press. This was the first time these models have ever been seen in public.

This was just an awesome event for large scale models and 100's of people were seeing these kind of models for the first time.
