Hey Bro.......not gonna' bug about the P.S. pump....I really can't, when I ordered my Hemi Roadrunner I didn't get power steering or brakes.......couldn't parallel park or stop it but at the time real men didn't need those sissy power robbing things.....yeah right!

Thanks Don but I wouldn't want you to raid the little woman's fish model collection. Althoough it would cool on top of the roof, rotating like one of the bugs you see on an exterminator's truck. Hmmmm (kidding of course.)

I forgot to add earlier that your C-Cab build was also an inspiration for this type of concept build - where you begin with the kit part you want and build your model around it. Although you had a plan, I'm pretty much making it up as I go along.

The huge tires are cartoonish a bit but I think they will work for what I'm trying to do. I so wanted to use those deep dish daisy's all the way around but there was no suitable front tire in the inventory that could handle it (without modifying and thus making it non-deep dish), except the deuce Goodyear rears.

On another note I wanted to tell you about an Offy model A on Dave Lindsay's site. Beautiful pictures from all angles of a chromed out Offy in a Model A truck. If it weren't for the fact that I already have an engine practically finished for my truck I'd opt for the Offy.

Hey Steve, looks like it will be a very cool build! Just a couple of suggestions. To add some SOLE to this truck I would give it SHARKtooth interior, paint it CODdington red with a RAINBOW trout pinstripe , definately TUNA the engine to perfection, use ELECTRIC eels for spark plug wires and perhaps finish it with a PEARL top coat on the body.

Now stop FLOUNDERING and get busy!

Off to buy a new drill press. I need to make some Holly Mackrel!

I mentioned earlier that I had to make some modifications to my door hinges. In retrospect, I should have gone with my basic tried-and-true paper clip hinges but I tried to do better. They didn't work as well as they should have.

So what I thought would be an easy repair turned bad midway through the procedure, and while I used all my skills doing everything I could to save the cab - ultimately I had to make the decision to let it go.

It is a descision that most modelers will make at some point, but that doesn't make it any easier. Fish Truck Cab, V1 will be missed.

It should be noted that Fish Truck Cab, V1, did go out as a hero. I learned much from the build and will try and use that on V2 and other builds.

So I have to build a new cab but I didn't want to waste a new deuce cowl and V1's cowl was not salvagable so I decided to take a stab at making my own cowl. If successful, that would mean the entire truck body would be scratch built . I will share the progress (hopefully) here...

[LIST][*]After drawing the cowl opening in the front bulkhead I added a piece of 1/8” square Evergreen strip that the cowl will be attached.[*]Using a Dremel disc cutter I cut out the opening to within about 1/8”.[*]I then smoothed out the cut with a barrel sander…[*]…so that I could remove the remainder with a nibbler tool.[*]Using the deuce cowl as a guide, I made a cowl template out of card stock. I foldd it in the middle to make sure it was symmetrical. I allowed a little overhang that will be trimmed later.[*]I used .060 Evergreen sheet for the cowl. Using template, I cut out the cowl and then bent (actually rolled) it to reduce the tension when I glued it to the bulkhead.[*]Inside shot.[*]I added a piece of .060 quarter-round Evergreen strip to the outer seam.[*]Starting to resemble a cowl.[*]Backside shot.[*]I drew the windshield opening onto bulkhead…[*]…and then used nibbler to cut out the opening.[*]I added a piece of .100 square Evergreen strip to the front cowl opening that the firewall will attach to.[*]Trimmed and sanded.[*]Inside shot.[*]Fashioned and fit basic firewall, to be embellished and modified later.[/LIST]17. Added Evergreen strip to hold firewall in place as well as floorboards and windshield frame. Note ¾” channel.

Thanks guys. I have most of the cab pieces finished (walls, floor, doors, etc.) and should have them assembled into a single assembly in a day or so.
