Supported Includes Transkit Scratch Built Build in Progress

Hi. I've been making quite a few sets of 15 inch Racing Dunlop wheels and tyres for people recently to convert the Monogram / Revell 1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts E Type's to the famous racing Light weight's.

I have both 15 and 16 inch wheels and Dunlop Tyres in various widths, which i use for my own D and E Type 1:8 scale finished models. I have been wondering if people would be interested in a full transkit to convert the standard Fixed head coupe kit into a full blown racing lightweight roadster ?

I am just finishing a set of early wheels and tyres for a lovely guy in the Netherlands at the moment who is making his own scratch built 1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts Lightweight , and i thought i would ask if any other people would be interested ?
      1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts-resized-img_9824-jpg

The kit of parts would be as follows

1./ new bonnet a new with the correct headlight shape spot lamps and additional louvres and fly screen and external metal bonnet catches
2./ works hardtop with vents with amended window frames to replace the kit parts and rear screen and front rear view mirror.
3./ A set of x4 round hole Dunlop Racing wheels, spinners and Dunlop racing tyres in 15 inch diameter as used on the early lightweight E types.
4./ new racing roadster replacement back end which would be a direct replacement with opening bootlid and Roadster rear bulkhead.
5./ racing fuel tank with correct working monza fuel fillercap and spare wheel and tyre
6./ racing lightweight E Type Right hand drive dashboard and early Jaguar racing bucket seats
7./ An exterior kit of parts. including a full transfer sheet, metal race marker lights and Sill extensions. a raised releif rear numberplate . Side window air scoops.

You would need a new or old existing Monogram / Revell 1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts kit as a start.

As a second smaller under bonnet Trans Kit i am making full race E Type engine. with all the correct period detais these include

1./ A new 35/ 40 Jaguar racing wide angle head with metal cam covers and the breather additions
2./ A replica of the Aluminum engine block
3./ dry sump with pipework and dry sump tank
      4./ Lucas fuel injection system
      1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts-resized-img_9822-jpg

I look forward to your ideas . to progress i would need about 5 or 6 people.

I'm trying to keep things a realistic price, the main kit will be limited to only 25 sets so very exclusive but also very concise. It will be of the Number 14 Briggs Cunningham lightweight as raced at Le Mans in 1963

    Roy .

As you know the plan is a very concise set of exact New parts, these will make the Monogram / Revell 1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts E type into a beautiful scale model with all the correct racing period details.

Now to find another 5 people

I agree with Rudy. I am also interested with the price being the determining factor.

Hi I'm slowly just putting everything together . There will be quite a few parts and as all the lightweights were all slightly different the plan is to do one specific car to begin with , The first would be the 1963 Briggs Cunningham Le Mans car 5114 WK .

    I have made a start .

As for price for the whole kit it's looking at about the £370 price . for a basic kit of parts new Bonnet with lenses , Roadster back end with the racing rolled wider arches and a boot lid . a hard top with glass . Dunlop wheels . Dunlop racing tyres . and quite a few metal castings for the fuel filler cap . bonnet catches . spot light . bonet mouth ducting and race markerlights even a cast raised letterd rear numberplate. sill extensions and a right hand drive racing dash. and side windows and air scoops near the windscreen surround. and a full set of decals

At a later date i could possibly offer the full dry sump and Lucas Pi injection

Hi thanks for the link thats a Dunford built replica of the 1964 Peter Lindner low drag coupe . I've made quite a few of those low drag's over the years in 1:8 scale .1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts-lindner-nocker-jaguar-type-restored-6-jpg

I will be concerntraiting on the normal shape Light weights. i do have full bodys for the 1964 Le Mans Coupe's but they are very different. so far i have wheels , tyres , and all the back end to suit the 1:8 Monogrm / Revell 1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts kit finished. im now working on modifying my existing hard top and also the Light weight bonnet i have,. i will try and post some pictures later

Just finished and moulded the first period 15 inch Dunlop wheels used on the early 1963 Light weight Jaguars . My normal D Type Jaguar Dunlop wheels are 16 inch. so this is scaled down for the early Cunningham cars

I should have pictures of the revised rear bodywork and boot lid later today.I'm also supplying the Roadster rear internal bulkhead these mate up persectly witht he existing kit parts and the E Types rear cage.

I'm planning to offer the Trans Kit with an opening boot lid and fuel tank detail which anyone can add further detailing too. I've also made a start on making my 1:8 scale correct legnth and shaped racing Alumunum bonnet fit the Monogram / Revell 1/8 scale Monogram / Revell E Type parts bulkhead and sills. the bonnet will have the spotlights fitted externally as on the real car shown hereat the start of the race in 1963 at Le Mans.

Just a quick update and i hope people dont mind ?

My new master for the New Racing dashboard is nearly finished with all the correct period details and in RHD style, the bodywork is in a mould so the first trial kit is a week from completion.

This is the original Light weight E Type dash without the cubby box and painted black to stop destracting glare at night as the cars passed other cars head lights at Le Mans. The steering wheels used by the Cunningham cars at Le Mans in 1963 were black leather and the spokes were painted black too and i will be supplying these in the kit of parts , shown here the car has a later genuine E type wood rim steering wheel.

You can just make out the black leather rim and steering wheel in this picture of the sister team car in the pits during the 1963 race

Hi Rudy . It's a brilliant book and full of information . I actually have a work copy and spoke to Philip last week on some details for a Lindner Low Drag I'm working on. Other good books on Racing Jaguars are the Andrew Whyte book " Jaguar Sports Racing & Works Comeptition Cars from 1954" and also Philip Porters other Jaguar Book " Jaguar Sports Racing Cars " my good friend Paul Skilleter has a book in development on the competition E Types too and it will be released soon im sure .

I have made some more progress on the standard Cunningham Light weight E type Jaguar " Trans Kit" pattens . I now have a right hand drive racing Dash Board and metal cast switches finished

. and a working Monza fuel filler cap nearly done .
