Finally got some bench time so I started cutting up the body.. I made some pockets for the turbos and I opened up the grill area (similar to the 66 GT 350's) so as to get better air flow to the intercooler. Ive added a longer spliter and roughed in the opening .. Im also doing a new rear spoiler as well...A few progress pics

I did a quick mock up of the roller this morning just for a preview of what it might look like...Will need some wheel well work for the larger tires and different wheel offset but all in all im happy with it thus far...

Did a little more surgery in the engine bay.. Made a bit more room for the intercooler and cleaned up the pockets for the hair dryers no pics to post tonight so ill try to post some tomorrow..I think I also scored some new glass for the Camaro as the original pieces didnt fair to well during removal...if it doesnt pan out im going to try to form some from .030 poly carbonate. As I said..Try

Mike, I have formed 1/8" thick acrylic sheet before using a positive and negative form covered with felt and put all in the oven with a little weight on top, until it all settled down in place. The felt helped keep from marking the clear acrylic . You could probably do something similar with thinner pieces.

I was going to try to use the original glass as a buck if possible...heating slightly to relax the poly and form it that way...Before I even attempt this,, is it a waste of time? If I need to make a positive and negative from the originals what do you recommend to make them from...Thanks in advance

You might be able to use the originals as a buck. I think the only issue of not using a negative and positive form is you might get some waviness in the polycarbonate. If you have a good way to apply heat just to the areas you need to bend though, I think it would work. You may need to support the original glass to keep it from deforming from the heat. I'm guessing that the "glass" from the original kits is crystal styrene which will melt at a much lower temp than the polycarbonate. It's also fairly brittle. One thing you could try is to put a good coat of mold release or maybe some reynolds wrap and fill in the inside with plaster or bondo or something that will cure fairly hard. Then you could use that as a mold to form the polycarbonate over.
