I've been asked to build a model of the sprint car driven by RJ Johnson, this year, to the Southwest USAC championship. I got home from the last race and started drawing plans and built the frame and body in 7 days.

All that in only 7 days? Ken, buddy, seriously...it looks really good but I am wondering how much coffee you consume.

Red Bull! Actually I have just done so many of these that I don't have to scartch my head figuring out how to make something. That and I draw plans for every model which is a huge time saver. I'm retired so I work on the models for awhile go rake the yard or whatever come back for a while, etc, etc. You all build one of a kind things; wild dragsters, hot 2013 Southwest USAC Champion in 1/8 Scale rods to classic cars. I just build race cars. I swear they are easier.

Yea .. "Beautiful" race cars....You do fantastic work Ken... Im sure your real life knowledge of these cars is also a big factor in your ability to build them as fast as you do.... And the Red bull also helps....
I have done so much, With so little, for so long, I can do anything with nothing...

It does Michael. I go to a lot of sprint car races and I always spend the time in the pits. I hang out with these guys. Every race I go to I take a camera and a tape measure. Always find a little something to update my plans. Plus being around and involved in this type of racing, all my life is huge. Thanks you.

No Ryan, it's just a model. I do know that those RC cars use piano wire for torsion bars. Different dia. for stiffness; sort of like the real thing. I have been asked to do an RC car, several times, but I never have time.

I'm doing three cars currently; the midget, this sprinter and a Don Edmunds supermodified. Quit the little challenge but it's working.

Put on an aluminum belly pan and ran the injector stacks through the hood.
