Did you say that was totally scratchbuilt??? Would you consider doing a tutorial similar to what Ken did for some of us styrene Article: Amazing 1/8 Scale 1969 Camaro Build guys? I would love to see how you make the body. Thanks in advance. BTW, your work is some of the best I've seen.

Hi hot Article: Amazing 1/8 Scale 1969 Camaro Build ford coupe,
Yes it's 100% scratch built Article: Amazing 1/8 Scale 1969 Camaro Build , except for nuts, bolts, and springs. I have a 1:1 Article: Amazing 1/8 Scale 1969 Camaro Build camaro in my garage and used it for measuring the parts. I took a 1/24 scale model cut it up to get the profiles, scaled to 1/8 and used the 1:1 Article: Amazing 1/8 Scale 1969 Camaro Build for measuring, made a template for each profile and cut them out of balsa. Then I made a top and bottom spar of the side profile and a left and right spar of the top profile. All the body profiles (bulkheads) have notches cut in the top, bottom, and sides for the spars to slide into. I drew a full size drawing of the top view and taped or glued to a flat surface, then taped the bottom spar in the middle of the drawing and started gluing Article: Amazing 1/8 Scale 1969 Camaro Build the bulkheads front to back following the drawing. After the bulkheads are glued I glued the top spar and the two side spars, then I covered the body with strips of balsa 1/8 wide by 1/16 thick. After sanding Article: Amazing 1/8 Scale 1969 Camaro Build and filling and sanding Article: Amazing 1/8 Scale 1969 Camaro Build more I covered the body with 6oz. fiberglass and sanded again.
Then I broke away all the bulkheads inside the body and sanded smooth
and covered the inside with 6oz. fiberglass. 6 oz. is overkill you can use 2 or 3 oz. glass. Then I cut out the fenders, hood, doors, windows, and deck lid. I did all my drawings in illustrator. This is it in a nutshell, to give a full tutorial I would have to make a new body, and that takes a long time. On the next project I will give a step by step.
Hope this gives you some idea of whats involved.

That is really expert work. I looked at the whole set of pictures and I'm very impressed. I love how the tires and wheels came out. This looks as real as it gets.

Very nice! I love the pictures of the engine. For the bolt heads on the pulleys and brackets, are those separate or just detail painting?

That's great. Can you tell me what sizes you used for the bolts? I'm interested in building something similar and would like to make the bolts look as accurate as possible.
