        New thread for my next project..Went from "Quadzilla" to a single engine dragster...So anyway..Ive ordered my brass tubing for the chassis and im going to use one of "Big Johns" awesome V-12's for this build..I have a set of old school slots for the rear and spokers for the front .. Planning on a 240" Wheel base (about 30" ) maybe a 70's look..probably do a 9" also...First I have to build the chassis.
        Question for 'Comp Dave" ... Say this thing runs on alcohol V-12 Front engine dragster ..would I still need to run a cooling system .... electric pumps and an exchanger ?

        note: I will probably make longer stacks and try to duplicate the gold anodized look "Big John" suggested.. I think it would look pretty trick...You used to be able to buy the Gold anodize paint but havent seen it around for awhile.. Ill just have to experiment ..Wonder if polished brass would be close enough?? HMMMM

      hey mike! these are awesome, man. i love 'em. as far as a cooling system....i wouldn't run any. no matter what the fuel. gas, alcohol V-12 Front engine dragster or nitro......do the burnout, make the pass, tow it back. repeat as often as necessary! hehe.

      this is gonna really be cool!

      Fronty or Rear? I havent tried doing brass flairs yet, I'll have to check it out. I think you'll need to anneal it first. Maybe you can get a copy of Dave's V12 timing cover.

      Fronty ..old school.. early 70's style maybe....Hope to get my brass tubing tomorrow or thursday ... Im stoked about this project..With all the talent on this site im sure ill have problem getting my questions answered ....

      Just don't ask me any really technical stuff on the brass work...I are just one tiny step above completely novice myself. I can say this though, accuracy is a must, clean joints are next to godly joint, flux is cheap and solder files pretty easy.


      Oh yeah, and if you solder like I do, don't be ashamed to do some clean up before the pics.

      Think I'm going to shorten the wheel base to a more manageable 200"..The 240" would really be stuffing my display table... 5" shorter will help with that...And my plans are for a 200" anyway.....One of many changes to be made im sure

      I figured fit up would be key .. same way for stainless...I just realized i havent got my soldering iron yet.. Have to get that soon...Im thinking it would be a necessary item for this build.

      I have a couple of soldering irons but prefer to use my jewelers torch. It is set up to use propane and oxygen and I can get a very tiny, concentrated flame. But yeah, a soldering iron would beat a Bic lighter any day!

      Got "some" of my tubing today ... 3/16" dia. but the 1/8" is missing in action..Tracking shows delivered,but it apparently wasnt..Ill give it another day to see if it just got missed...i was hoping to start on the chassis this weekend...lets hope it makes it...

      Picked ups a torch and soldering supplies this morning..No luck on a bender for the 3/16 ..Ill probably have to order one..So I guess im kinda stuck till I can bend the tubes....
