Here I already told the story about the purchase of this brilliant model

      http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/...oni-italy.html

I really donīt expect to see one single part so with the help of other customers who send me pictures, drawings (and even parts) I started scratching the missing parts.

I started with the gearbox the most completed part to reproduce. Red are the missing parts of the gear house

The shapes of the parts are rather complicated so I started with a drawing based on pictures.

Also I made my first scratched part: the cover of the gear house. The white plastic is a bit faded :)

As a kind of preparation before the real build I will successively replace the missing parts with my "own work" :D

      regards

Thanks Ken! Now it is a real race car...and not an engine and a monocoque. After all the fuzz with the missing parts this is an exiting moment!

An update with a few small parts, but first I put the car on wheels to see if it is "straight". Don't forget that the front and rear suspension are missing parts replaced by me

I am satisfied for 99,9% .....I have to make some adjustments and the wheel base has a small deviation. I thought that I finally left all the problems with missing or wrong parts behind me but......I found out that one of the aluminum front rim has the right outer part but the inner part is from the rear rim!! Now I have to cutout a 2.5 mm slice from the aft inner part and glue the parts with epoxy Promocom Toy group Ferrari 126C2 scale 1:8 together

But now it is time for the mesh for the air inlets of the engine.

The mesh of the kit is looking terrible so I decided to use some 1:43 mesh from Tameo. It is rather rigid and hard to shape

I used a punch with a ball head and I folded the mesh around it.

The rim is secured with epoxy Promocom Toy group Ferrari 126C2 scale 1:8 glue which hardened for 36 hours. I removed the remains of the mesh with a grinding wheel

    The un-assembled result

and the assembled one. You can also see some reinforcements between engine and monocoque. Now comes the time where I need my solder station to assemble the cowling sections.

    Ton,

You've done an amazing job on this model, especially considering the parts problems you've had.

That's modeling at it's best. When you can take a kit with ill fitting parts as well as missing parts and come up with a result like that, you must be doing something very right. The whole thing looks like it's sitting pretty straight to me.

This update shows the building of the cooling system en some "unknown systems"

The main cooler for the turbos are made out of PE and white metal.

The bracket needs to be positioned very carefully, luckily there are some adjustment points

The coolers are finished and weathered

This bunch of PE should become another cooler. I love soldering

And a few hours later the whole lot is done

It took so long because I had to put 128 louvres to 4 racks!

Because the gaps between the louvres are about 0.5 mm I decided to solder and glue them (solder-glue-solder- and so on)

    ....and it looks very nice

......until it drops and the glue joints are less strong than the solder joints :banghead:

and here are the "unknown devices" by Magneti Marelli

The right device is something electric ( white parts are plugs) but the other two......I really don't know. I googled Magneti Marelli but It haven't seen anything that looks like one of the devices......so if anybody has a clue!

    devices are finished

And this shows the three parts together. I will position them to the monocoque after I have fitted the carbon underside: If I don't do that I am afraid I have no room for a proper fit of the underside.
    Regards

Dang! Looks like you got hit by the gravity monster on one of those racks. That's what I call some labor intensive work. I would have done it exactly like you did with the solder-glue-solder system. In the end, I'm sure it was worth all that frustration because the result looks great.

SPLASH it did. The only problem with this mixed installation is that when you solder first the empty spaces get dirty and are hard to clean. When glueing first and than solder the glued joints crack due to the heat. And only gluing Promocom Toy group Ferrari 126C2 scale 1:8 or soldering work neither

    Ton,
Could they be pre-assembled with and using paste type solder, be all soldered at the same time?

I could have pre- assembled them by fasten them with a jig or so...maybe if I loose more louvres I will try it that way.

    Thanks Daniel!

I think it is a Sony Umatic 1600 VCR

This is the website of the company which worked together with Magnetti Marelli

Magneti Marelli Dinoplex Repair and Restoration Documents

But I don't recognize one of the devices

According to a source on the net the 126C2 had a "Magneti Marelli Race Plex electronic capacitive discharge" but I don't know if these devices have something to do with this "Thing"
