      Hello fellow large scale modelers!

As a new guy, I hope that I can still surprise someone here with my first finished 1/8 build, now about two years old. It's a scratchbuilt curbside model of the awesome, strikingly beautiful and uncontrollable mad cat, the Bill Thomas / Don Edmunds 1965 Cheetah.
For everyone who doesn't know about this car, some research will produce interesting stories! And I just couldn't resist this beautiful shape; I had to have her.
So I carved the body from Polyurethane foam using photos and a 1/43 model as pattern. The few detailing parts are mostly made by rapid prototyping Article: 1/8 Scale Scratch Built Bill Thomas Cheetah (3D print), while the taillights are stolen from the 1965 C2 Corvette of Revell Article: 1/8 Scale Scratch Built Bill Thomas Cheetah .
      Nuff told, have a look:

Hey, thank you guys for the warm welcome! And a nomination, too!
Gotta give something back: Here's for the WIP Article: 1/8 Scale Scratch Built Bill Thomas Cheetah interested:

At the beginning, just a block of Polyurethane foam:

Very rough shaping by tree Article: 1/8 Scale Scratch Built Bill Thomas Cheetah saw:

The rough shape is visible - but I slimmed down that behind a litle too much

Finished foam chassis, ready for filler painting

After sealing the foam with 2K filler:

    Messy business: carving the cockpit

    Fresh after painting: Test fit

If you want to know about something special, just ask. I'm happy to brag and to help of course.
BTW, there are some more pics on my page detailed models

Guys, check his gallery. 1/8th Cobra. Very nice...

Is there another build in the works and if there is could you share how you do it with a build tutorial?

    Hello Daniel,
I'll be adding the Cobra as a new thread to this forum as soon as I can.
Currently, I am working on a model which is in its finishing phase, and I'll add that too, but it is "just" a modified Revell Article: 1/8 Scale Scratch Built Bill Thomas Cheetah kit.
About a build tutorial of a scratchbuild car of mine:
There are lots of cars I'd like to start right away, but I have not yet made a decision for what's next.
To head off a possible wave of suggestions : I think it'll be a Mustang...

I'll have the camera up and running for that one, but it will take it's time. Normally I'm working about a year on a car like that.
And I have lots of other cars sitting around in various states of build, plus a degree in engineering to make

But if anyone out there can help me with chassis pics of a 69 Shelby GT 500 (not the "Gone in sixty secounds" one though, just the original Shelby thing), especially of the front end without trim and spare parts, I'd be very grateful!!!

Holy Schmoley, what a masterpiece! I'm totally bowled over. Like I mentioned on the other thread, we're gonna have to talk about techniques. I just have to learn how to do this.

Can you tell us what type of Polyurethane foam you use? It almost looks like the stuff florists use for flower bases but when I tried that foam it crushed and deformed too easily as I handled it for me to carve effectively.
