I pulled this kit from my stash on May 5, 2019; the night we got home from the GSL.

1997 reissue of the 1970 Tamiya Lola T-70 Mk III kit. It's been patiently waiting for 22 years in my stash to be built.
I've been researching, planning and figuring all month. (Actually I was scheming a couple days before in case I didn't find a dream deal on another Caterham kit during the show/trip.)
It will be built as a street car T-70 replica with some modern upgrades.

I started by cleaning up the tub and main body panels.
Lots of filling and sanding Lola T-70 Mk III to remove the twenty シ inch diameter ejection pin marks in the tub alone and general parting lines. But still a nicely molded kit considering its age.

The insides of the body also needed to be addressed for the same issues.

The bracket to mount the fire extinguisher to the floor. I guess I could have just glued it in place… well, no I couldn't do that…
    Sheet brass cut and shaped.

    The strap is vinyl.

I made brackets for the radiator.

The hard coolant lines from the radiator to the side pods are reworked parts from the kit, the left side being relocated to the top of the modified radiator and bent up much more than the right.
The silicone connector hoses are made of brass. The hose clamps are tin and I machined the worm drives from aluminum.

    Dry fitted together.

    The finished radiator.

The stone guard screen is 0.002 thick PE.
The "plastic" fasteners for it are machined aluminum as are the mounting bosses.

The petcock is aluminum and steel, machined and made of 3 pieces.

I made the upper hold-down bracket from five pieces of hand formed .010 sheet brass.

The transmission cooler is made from the kit parts but they were modified. Same for the brackets. The mounting hardware was machined from aluminum. Line fittings will be added later.

The spokes of the steering wheel were done with a black base and transparent blue mixed with smoke and clear to get the shade of anodized aluminum I wanted.
(They are the only part that's not aluminum.)

I made the little fasteners out of a steel pin.

    Thanks Don!

I was going to machine the fuel pump, but decided to 3D design it too except for the main body/motor cylinder.

    Thanks Nick!

These are the finished 3D printed parts for the pump and regulator. They will be used as patterns to cast resin Lola T-70 Mk III copies.

Curious why you are casting Lola T-70 Mk III resin Lola T-70 Mk III copies, Why not just use the printed parts themselves?

The U.V. resin Lola T-70 Mk III I'm using captures detail well, but it is very hard and brittle.
I make copies with a more user friendly urethane Lola T-70 Mk III resin Lola T-70 Mk III .
One crack or chip from working the parts in this case would mean 8 hours of printing, post processing and curing Lola T-70 Mk III .
And since I'm drilling into the parts to accept machined metal parts the likelihood of that happening is moderately high.
Even though I grow extras, the casting Lola T-70 Mk III is worth the effort in the long run. Plus I can always make more for other projects.
