Assembled scratch-built HEI distributor. I'll add the tach and power wires later, the plugs are already on it.

Outstanding! You mention your own 1:1 as a reference, but is that a Lola T-70 or simply a Chevy small block on another car?
No Lola. Just a well built small block in a Camaro.

A VERY nice car!
The early second generation Camaros are my favorite. Lucky you!
Thanks guys! I wanted one when they first came out; had to be an RS. Bought that one when it was almost 10 years old, racked up almost 300K on it so far. But I have been through it bumper to bumper twice; last time was in '98.
The distributor boots for the ignition wires; made from scratch.

(Return of the big ruler…)
Plug boots for the wires. Made using the same process as the for the distributor boots.

And I made spark plugs too. Steel and resin; shown with a boot installed.

I added the sand-cast texture to the block. Notice the freeze plugs and timing cover are not textured.
It still needs another coat of paint, but not until the oil and water plugs are added.

I highly appreciate when people pay attention to details.. 1thumbup1.
How did you get that sand-cast texture?
Thanks Volker!
I used talc Roger. (Same as on the thermostat housing.)
Thermostat housing and fuel pump block off. The kit part didn't match my intake manifold.
I was able to thin out the kit's block off plate. I machined the aluminum bolts on both parts.

Thanks! I suppose you are spraying a thin coat of paint, then "snowing" the talc before the paint is dry and finally painting it. Am I right?
If I remember, I tried something similar some time ago, but I was not happy with the result. I probably did something wrong!
