I don't know why it took so long to start this build, the E-TYPE has always been one of my favorite cars and it is just drop dead gorgeous. I have been studying the other great builds on this site and have gotten some great ideas as well as informative instruction. I am leaning toward the 4.2 liter Series 1 convertible in model year 1968.

I wanted the final coat to be clear gloss enamel Jaguar e-type . Lets just call it operator error and leave it at that. The final top coat of Testors Enamel Jaguar e-type Gloss Maroon is on. I'll give it a couple of days to cure Jaguar e-type , or what ever it is that paint does when you are not looking.. Meanwhile the convertible top boot needs attention. Bondo is my go to body filler. The boot that came with the after market, convertible body conversion section was a little rough but cleaned up real nice. I bought it on ebay.

A little more sanding Jaguar e-type and its off to the paint shop. I think that it will look more like leather than leather.

I thought that I would try something new (to me). Instead of using medical tape for carpeting I applied a product called FLOCK IT!. It comes in a kit and is easy to use. As you can see the doors are finished. The excess from the interior will be salvaged after a 24 hour dry period.

Well the floor mats finally arrived from my importer Ohmar the Tent Maker, and a fine job his tiny weavers have done.

How about that! Little magic carpets to help this thing fly down the road! Love the flocking Jaguar e-type in the interior. Who needs "rich Corinthian leather"?

I did some good work on this one and only dropped the hammer a few times, so it is time to close the hood and move on to the next project. Emily said that my 66,67,68 Jaguar is good enough to occupy the coveted shelf in the living room, after I remove the RR engine that is there now of course. Thanks Don for your suggestion to use lacquer Jaguar e-type nail polish, its a good one and I will definitely keep it on my list of good ideas. As for the enamel Jaguar e-type paint job. If there is a next time I will use an industrial size spray paint can from my local hardware store and just have my way with it. This approach worked just fine with the lawn furniture. A special shout out and thanks to Ohmar The Tent Maker for providing those beautiful Persian car mats.

In the closet there is a 1937 Cord in 1/12 scale just begging to be built. There is also an Oseberg Viking Longship of wood construction. The longship is an incredibly beautiful craft and I feel the tug of the open sea drawing me once again. See you soon.
