I'm almost embarrassed to post this after watching Propeller's tour de force on this car. But I thought I'd throw it open to criticism.
I built Trump's kit to capture the car's character-not one specific chassis number. Everyone loves the #1 car, chassis 1015 but I chose to model it as a test track rat and endurance racer-not a modern restored, vintage-race car.
I welcome all comments pro and con.

      Thanks for looking.

Beautiful job, Chas. You don't have to worry about the quality of your Ford. It's first rate no matter how you look at it. Also, it doesn't matter what any member's skill level is, all comers are welcome equally. This one is for all out there. It never, ever matters that one particular builder's work may be better than some. This site is the best place to learn modelling because of that fact. If it weren't for the masters we have on the site, I wouldn't be able to do what I do now. As an example, I'm closely following Lancair IV's (Rob Byrnes) B17G with the "show all" cutaways. Every time I see what he's showing, I've always learned something new and I'll continue to learn those new techniques as long as I watch.
Sometimes a handful of patience is worth more than a truck load of brains. Have the courage to trust your own beliefs. Don't be swayed by those with louder voices. W.S. Maugham :)

    You are welcome, Chas!
Your achievement is superb ... And a very high level!
    The weathering Gt40-1/12 is perfect.
I'd like to do the same thing on mine, but it is not really my specialty.
    Bravo!

I agree with them Chas. This is the place to be, to learn and share, no matter what you do or what your skill level is. It's like a big happy family here and there is always someone around to help you.

Your GT 40 is 1st rate work. I really like the detail and the weathering Gt40-1/12 you've done, so realistic. I've not tried weathering Gt40-1/12 anything yet but am about to give it a go soon. I'm already learning from you. The stone chips and bug guts splatters are just right. Great stuff mate

    Hello Chas,

one can almost smell the burnt oil, sniff the tire smoke and hear the sound of GTs passing by, looking at the pics. Love the graining and picked up stones in the tire's profile. Great piece of work.

    Cheers

That's the effect I was striving for Michael-run hard and put away wet. Pebbles stuck to hot Gt40-1/12 tires always tells me 'race car'...:)
Many thanks for your comments and nomination!

    Wow, stunning.

If I am forced to have some criticism, then it is the slightly thickish wires hanging from the dashboard, and usually the tyres have a more matte finish (although the camera can fool that one)

But keep in mind that this comes from a guy that did not touch a model in at least 1 year, and hardly finished any. So treat it like an act of jealousy...

    Herman,
Your criticisms are most welcome-it's nice when someone cares about your work enough to discuss it.
I agree 100% about the wire diameters-I could not find any other in my stash to my liking and have no old phone equipment to strip. So I went with these to create the original effect of a hodge-podge of wires and cables snaking through the cockpit as these were raced. I'm a bit unsatisfied with their appearance but overall on display it's not too bad.
I can assure you however that the tires are indeed dulled and splattered with brake and road dust and quite dull. I think the fill-in flash Gt40-1/12 used in daylight gave them a slight sheen. Thanks for your comments. Here's a slightly better shot:

Wow. When I first started looking at the pictures, I thought it was of the real car. It wasn't until I saw the paving stones it is sitting on that I realized it was the model.

    Beautiful work.

Thank you guys. No Bob, I avoided the KA parts and am glad I did. Much poor comment about scale, fit and difficulty to assemble. Plus most parts were either redundant to the kit parts or completely hidden when assembled. You can do better with your own skills.
