Got tired of waiting for Deuce parts before continuing Deuce activity so started on an AMT 1/6 engine kit. Much more fun than the Pocher Alfa engine. Crank shaft is solid one piece. Pistons fit well, notice valve and valve springs that actually work. Really a fun build. Unfortunately all the great detail is buried once the model is done but the build is still a lot of fun.

Are the other 1/6 scale engine kits this much interior detail???

Where did that kit come from?? You said AMT ? I've got the ones from Revell but they don't have anywhere near the detail this one has. I use some of these things for reference material when I want to scratchbuild a 1/8 scale engine. This model looks great.

Can't remember what caught my attention on eBay but for some reason I bought it about 4 months ago and never thought about it till just now. I don't think you can buy it anyplace but on eBay.

Hey Syd, if you're not too far along on it, can you take some pics of the detail please? Put a dime into each picture or a ruler sowe can see what the original measurements are. This will add greatly to the reference library. Thanks ever so much. No rush.

Copyright 1998 by the Ertl Company - Made in Mexico. I might add that I thought the casting was excellent, the detail was outstanding with minimal flash . Maybe it is because of the large scale but I couldn't be happier with a kit particularly after dealing with what I believe was sloppy Lindberg details in the Red Rod. Unfortunately this is the only big thing I have found from AMT .

I was going to inclose a picture of the box but I am having trouble uploading pictures. I have a number I have wanted to upload the past week but have only made it with the one above in this thread. After 5 minutes of waiting I just give up on uploading.

Here is an idea of the detail available on this model. The distributor has the rotor and timing plate (I guess you call it that?) with wire, condensor, rotor, etc. that will be buried for ever once the cap is glued on. I plan to glue it in place so it won't be knocked off in the future - same with the heads although the valve covers can be pressed into place with their cast in pins and then can be removed in the future if someone would want to see the valve springs and keepers.

Also there is a tiny thermostat to go under the water input cover which will never be seen again. Only I will know what is inside this motor - but as said above - almost as much fun as the real thing.

That's a great kit to make a bolt together display out of...that way it could be disassembled. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. But if anyone sees us playing with our toys after they are built......there will be talk.:o

Now you tell me! I never gave it a thought but this would have been an excellent bolt together. Oh well - Maybe I will follow Mario into that world once he shows us more of his deuce details.

    Syd:
The Shadow has been very busy making scale bolts, threaded ones, and nuts!
That is why he hasn't posted anything in the last few days...
    However, give it a try.
My Revell Highboy frame, BOLTED, is really rigid & fun to play with, besides its
very practical to make changes in any minute.
Let's make some "A la Pocher" modeling... without it's prices...
    Regards

Just another detail of the heads with push rods and rockers. Lot of model for less than $20. Wish I had picked up that last one to start it out as a bolt together.
