Yes it is incredible! I came across this guy several years ago, and was just amazed that the guy would devote his life to making this Ferrari. I found it because this is my favorite Ferrari and I was looking for background info to make a model. Seeing what he did with it really knocked the wind out of my sails. There is a write up about him in the craftsmanship museum (Peter Scari). Ken's patron purchased the model so that Peter could finance the production of some other models, as I remember. Fantastic!!- Gary

I'm new here and I shouldn't admit it but I'm more an airplane guy than a car guy (don't eject me from the group please).

This model is unbelievable. He loves his cars way more than I love my airplanes.....

    Otherwise, I'm speechless.

Hey Swampfox, you flyboys are just as welcome here as anyone else. We've got a great group of fixed wing guys with their own hanger.

    What are you building?

    Hi Rick,

I'm actually building a 1:48 card model of Model 299. The grand-daddy to the B-17....

It's a really beautiful design and takes some different skills when working in paper/card.

I'm almost finished and will be posting some picts when I'm finished.

I never thought a card model could look so good. Like I said in the other thread (ooh, a poem) it really looks great.

I have actually seen this model up close and personal and seen it run and all. Gary Kohs at one time owned it. Pierre restores Ferrari's for a living and hence his subjects are at hand with plenty of resource material. In fact he has started a second one. Interesting side bar story is that he was having trouble cutting the gears and getting the transmission to work; so he went to the manufacturer of the transmissions for advice. They were so impressed with the rest of the car they built him the transmission in scale.

Thanks Ken for that info on this wonderful working model!

Interesting the Trans Co. made him a scale working tranny. I bet they were impressed too. I was always impressed with his drawings he made by hundereds of pictures he took of this car.
