Jon, you've done it again mate. That is absolutely fantastic. I love it. I'll have to see if I can get an adapter for my GoPro and try that with my trucks.

Hi Dave, I didn't buy a GoPro specific macro set, I got a cheap set of macro filters of a size that will fit my Olympus DSLR and made up a simple mount so I can use them on the GP - that way they are dual purpose and didn't attract the price hike that seems to affect most Go Pro stuff. Here's another example:

The mounting ring is turned up from a piece of kitchen cutting board. The mounting is a snug fit on the GoPro lens, and the macro lens is held on with a strip of velcro - cheap and easy. I painted the lens side of the mount matt black because the original white reflected on the inside of the macro lens. This arrangement might look a bit cumbersome, but the advantages are that the macros lenses fit my SLR, and when they are on the GoPro it's looking through the centre of the lens so doesn't suffer from any spherical abberations that you get towards the edge of a lens.

Nice videos, all with GoPro 3 ? think you need some steady thing, maybe you can make yourself, rubberband and so.
Very fine garage, all handmade ?
PS. are you from a circus somewhere or just an artist in kajaking monocycle

    Hi Egon,

Yes, all of the videos (except the Midas one) on my YouTube page are with the GoPro Hero 3. I bought it mainly for the kayaking applications, but have found plenty of other uses for it.

Steadying the camera for the garage diorama shot is difficult when I have all four walls in place as it has to be suspended from above. A certain amount of movement helps to give the hand-held look, but I have to try for only 1/6th of real world wobble, which is hard. I looked at some of the commercial steady-cam mounts but they are all too big for what I need. I have improved things with my more recent efforts, but it still needs more practice.

Some of the garage content is scratch built 1/6th Scale Harley Video , but a lot is commercially available stuff, mostly found on Ebay.

No circus in my background. I've been a kayaker and canoeist for over forty years - started when I was sixteen. I only started the Greenland paddling techniques in the last couple of years. Also only started unicycling recently - it's great fun and good exercise, and the core body balance/flexibility benefits are complimentary to the kayaking. Look up the UniGeezer on YouTube for some impressive off-road unicycling - he's older than me so it gives me something to aim for, though I don't imagine I'll ever be half as good as he is. But then, two years ago, I didn't think I'd be managing some of the Greenland rolls that I can do now, so never say never.

Until that giant hand came down and picked up the motorcycle, I would have never believed that was a scale model.

I thought I was looking at a real garage with a real cycle.

    Nice work.
