      Here is my latest work. A 1990 Fat Boy in itīs first version. Itīs still not really finished, because the right covers on timer and primary are missing. Iīm still thinking to make them by someone who knows how to photoetch these parts, or make them from thin styrene 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost and cut them with an exacto. And Iīm still searching for the right yellow color for the rim on the cylinder heads and covers.

    Very nice work Harleybuilder. Makes you feel like you could just get on and go for a ride. I'd like to see a few more photos from different angles. What scale are they, and what brand of kit? Do they have a rubber drive belt?

    I was at our local radio control model shop some time ago and saw some nice little drive belts for RC cars, and straight away thought they would make great drive belts for the 1/6 Tamiya 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost Harleys.

    Stunning good job on the bikes, Harleybuilder They're almost looking like the real thing, but you're right...the rim around the cylinder's head hasn't got the right colour yet. As far as I remember it's been turning more a shade to orange. Had a fellow biker back in the good ol' times, who rode this model, and we had a great laugh about this piece of paint on the engine.(He used to be the only Harley-Rider amongst us Moto-Guzzi and Ducati Riders) I'm talking about years back into time...Harley was for lovers, not a toy for consultants and fashionable lawyers.

    Like you mentioned in Dr.Daves Yamaha thread, you're looking for a way to replicate spoke nipples.
    Just google Metallmarkt Wilms. They're offering stainless tubing in different diameters. The
    0.6 millimeters fit snuggly in insect pins.

    Uli, Excellent workmanship on the Fat Boy!!! I Googled pics of the 1990 Fat Boy and, in my opinion, the yellow you chose looks pretty close. Photo-etched parts seem to be the easiest route if you can find someone to produce them. The derby cover might not be too hard to make from plastic, but the timer cover would be kinda small to work with. Is it possible to put the slots in the stock timer cover piece and then put a circular piece of plastic in behind it?

    They are from Tamiya 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost and scale 1/6. They havenīt a real rubber belts.

    It took a longer time before this model is nearly finished, because there was more to do, than only the covers for timer and primary. During my investigations on this Harley, I saw that the 1990 Fat Boy has the oil filter mounted on the frame and a different oil pump than the kits model, which presented the 1996 year. So, both have to be done on my model. Because the first year of the Fat Boy seems to be inspired by the WW II aircrafts, I look in the colour charts of model aircrafts and FS 13538 from Hobby Colour matches for the trim on my Harley.



    The covers were sliced from thin plastic sheet, glued on thicker sheet and than the whole thing was coloured. It was successful only at the second go (or was it the fourth, fifth….?). One of the faulty parts can be seen in the picture. The screws were taken from the Original parts.






    The base for the oil filter I produced with Tamiya 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost Epoxy 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost Putty 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost in my dremel 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost tool (as a lathe). The plastic screws were sliced from Plustruct hexa profiles. The real srew is 2mm dia.




    For the oil pump I took an old pump from the FLH and made a new plate for it.








    A fellow from a German forum, told me, that the first year Fat Boy is called Gray Ghost. He is so right. Silver Ghost was from RR.
    The only thing to do, is to change the position of the petcock, which was more in front of the gas tank in 1990.

    Sorry to rise thios old thread as my first post.
    I want to rebuild my Tamiya 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost Harley into the Gray Ghost, and wanted to ask what paint was used for this build.

    Sorry, I `ve been not here for a long time. So excuse my late answer. Color is TS-76 Mica Silver from Tamiya 1990 Fat Boy Silver Ghost . It matches the original "Fine Silver" best.

    Thanks for the reply. I also ended up using TS-76 for my build, with a light clear yellow top coat.
