        Many, many moons ago! A young Pvt stationed in Germany, discovered Protar models. It was love at 1st sight. Needless to say on a Pvt’s pay I could only
        buy a kit ever so off! But I recall standing in the Hobby Shop that carried them, and high up on a shelf was the 1/6 scale Guzzi California. Now around 2004
        I purchased a copy off of eBay from Japan. Let’s just say I paid a premium for that kit. Now a friend just drooled for this kit and offered a stupid amount to buy, enough to purchase a Pocher kit! I thought, one will turn up again.....2017, one did. Now for some reason I did not like the copy compared to the original. So I started watching eBay for another of the Protar kits, found one and purchased.
        So about 2 weeks ago, I said to heck with it and started building or actually parts clean up and prep. I scoured the web and decided on a retro Eldrado/California version of the Big Bad Guzzi.

      I have one of those original kits that I bought back in the mid '80s. I still haven't built it yet. Have fun building yours!
      Too many models to build and life isn't long enough to build them.

      How do Mr Mike....have got the engine completely glued up. Ready to start painting. Have not done much more though, been working on a eBay find Pocher Alfa! Will post a photo soon on the engine after painting. By the way, when will we see yours started .

      I really don't know. Italeri is now making the kit and selling it at a substantially higher price than I originally bought mine for. They have a nice video of the kit on their website if you haven't seen it yet.
      Too many models to build and life isn't long enough to build them.

      Cycle World magazine used to sell Protar kits under their CW label, $5.99 or $6.99 for the sidecar, all 1/9 scale. I bought and built (stuck together) a couple in the mid 60s as a teen. Have built a few since, they are fun kits of unusual subjects. That big Guzzi looks like it's off to a good start.
      Scorpio - Builds models the way the prototype should have been built.

      Have had and sold the Italeri version, I know popped from same molds, but I just did not feel the kit nor what they were charging. Sold it and pretty much started watching the web for the Protar version.

      Oh the good ole days of having a death grip on your allowance you have safed to buy that $6.00 kit! I bought and built my 1st Protar while stationed in Germany. The prices were around $20.00 bucks then for a 1/9 scale motorrad. At one time I started buying every version that was produced to bring back to the States. Figured you would never find here in the World! No web then, was thumbing through a Model rag, and what did I spy, POLKS NY, Protar kits
      By then I was into F1 as well!

      Not posted any progress, there has been none. I have to spray outside and should be posting a painted engine soon. Have cleaned but not assembled the frame.
