Hello everyone. Now that the REAL motorcycle riding season is over in NH I have some time to devote to my scale motorcycle building. I am working on two bikes. I am building a replica of a friend's bobber, I included a pic in a previous post, and am converting a Testors 1/6 Electra Glide into a NH State Police motorcycle.
The Tamiya 1/6 Hardware Help kit I picked up on ebay for the bobber project had been started and the frame and drive train were such a wreck...I spent HOURS trying to salvage them only to toss in the towel. I've contacted Tamiya 1/6 Hardware Help USA several times to see about replacement trees but they are not so great about getting back. There doesn't seem to be much support for the vintage stuff...just exactly like the real Harley Davidson Motor Company. At any rate, I am trying desperately to find a source for the 1/6 scale nuts, bolts, washers and acorn nuts. Someone MUST make this stuff? I've tried scale hardware and several others but they're too small (I didn't think that was possible). I measured the three most used size fasteners on the real bikes and have the scale equivalents in thousandths. Anyone out there have a super secret hardware resource?
I'd also like to add that although I don't post much I am truly blown away by the level of skill by the folks who post here. Thank you for your inspiration.

I only needed about ten percent of the kit I bought. Unfortunately the ten percent I needed was an unusable, fused pile of mush. The other ninety percent of the parts that I didn't need are untouched. This should give you some idea of the previous builder's skill level. Maybe a bit too much glue? All the king's horses and all the king's men...

Hey Joe. (wasn't there a song?)

a good source for scale hardware is Knupfer Feinwerk. Issues are, that their site is only available in German and sizes are metric. Can offer my help in translation, if needed.Another option is Rob Bentley, running RBmotion, he is doing custom jobs, to fit your needs.

cheers

Hi there Gents, I don't want to butt-in on your conversation, but I had this link in my bookmarks and thought they might come in handy when you get your projects underway.
I am not connected with this web sites nor have I purchased from them, I just noticed that you were looking for hardware and I had them bookmarked so "WhaLa"

This site is all simulated stuff but has a lot of different types of hardware such as hyme joints (Tie-rod ends etc), banjo fittings (Cable ends), silicone spark plug boots and acorn nuts just to name a few. The good thing is most of the fittings cover 1/24, 1/16, 1/12, and 1/8th scales sizes;

Model Motorcars 1/6 Hardware Help handles Knupfer Feinwerk also, plus a good and varied supply of Acorn Nuts.
I have been getting most of my hardware through them recently.
