I have not posted here in a long time. I don't build as often as I used to. I have been working on this chopper though and thought you guys might like it. I wanted to build something detailed, but I didn't want to start with the new R/M choppers so I started with this kit.

The age of the kit really shows. The frame had out of scale engine mounts, and other lugs of plastic. The engine was just a blob of chrome plastic.

From the begining I knew I wanted to use the 300 mm rear tire from Model Martin resin .

So in a nut shell........frame was cleaned up and widened in the rear, I added some rake to the front and sculpted a new seat pan area. I made a new front end using aluminum tubing, and molded the coffin tank into the frame. I made a fender with a molded taillight.

I cut the cylinders off of the crankcase and used cylinders from a IMAI shovelhead. I wanted to stay with a pre 1970 shovelhead. I scratchbuilt a magneto and used the oilpump from the Imai kit. After this pic was taken most of the bolt detail was removed to be replaced with hardware fro RB Motion. I am now waiting for the motor to come back from Chrome Tech to be finished.

I made new rims by cutting the center from a 1/8 scale rim and mounting it in a rim from a new R/M chopper. I made a front rim by carving out spokes from styrene rod and adding them to a rim .

this is the bike in its final mockup before sending eveything out to be chromed. I made new primary pulleys and a clutch, drilled the exhaust, and used a modified set of drag bars from R/M.

Here is the bike in paint.

When everthing comes back from chrome the real fun begins, I start adding the small details.
