For my 1/12 57 Chevy, the altenator is not bad, but unnacceptable for what I am doing. I dont have a mill or a lathe, but I want to make a more realistic altenator blade. I really dont know how to go about it, any ideas? Can I buy super thin metal sheets? I have a VERY thin piece of tin, but it's too thick and bends whenever i try to cut it.

    HALP!

Try a soda can for the metal. Look at a real alt fan blade, take plenty of measurements,
start bending, use smooth jaw pliers, and lots of paitence.

thats a great Idea, thanks! I'll probably lose my mind doing it, but it will look cool. I'll use the existing molded piece as some sort of a template.

    Hello Hemi Killer,

stunning good job on the engine. Lots of inspiration for my Corvette build. Concerning the alternator fan, I got two 1/12 scale photo-etched parts. They are out of a Ferrari transkit, but I'm quite sure, that you can use them on your chevy as well. Just pm your address, when you are interested, will hand them over for free.

    Cheers

I have the 1/12 Testarossa photo etch kit for Revell /Monogram. I'm at work right now, but I'll check when I get home, I completely forgot I had that. They dont fit the Tesatrossa kit anyway, all the photoetch stuff is too big.

I'll let you know how it turns out, i may take you up on your offer, thanks a LOT!

Just for photo reference. The photo=etched one should look fine, I dont think anyone would notice the difference as long as its the right size. I do have resin cast alternators that are better then the kits one but you would still need to remove the blade and carve it out then add to a 2nd alternator. I think theres a few in the Marketplace.

Hey Hemi. Let me take a couple of pictures of my completed engine and let you see what I did to the generator. I didn't like the kit piece either. The fan blades are not that difficult but just time consuming and fiddly. Hang on and I'll get you some info. BTW. I made the blades out of aluminum from a soda can.

    Cool, thanks!

edit: the Ferrari blades are way too big. The whole photoetch kit is too big for the kit it was made for too, what a bummer.
