Howdy gang, as some of you know I'm knee deep in projects with TDR , SMC, MF. and my mural work.....that's all cool but at times the ol' grunt needs to do something that's just plain fun. This will be a verrrrrry long term project as I'm only going to be working on it hit or miss until I retire in August when I have more time.

The motivation is simply 'cause it's something I want to do and having been there I don't have to do a bunch of research or brain strain. No pressure or deadlines......at my own chosen speed. It will be built totally using my old school no frills tools and in 1/6th it's BIG and screaming for detail (within my patience and skill level).

I bought a 1/6th (metal) 2-4 barrel Hemi stocker and the 1/6th Plymouth blown drag engine.
I'm going to combine the two to build a one off street-able (weekend warrior) blown with 2-four barrels engine to power the thumper.
First on the agenda is to make a plastic block....the metal stuff is cool but too heavy for what I have in mind, I will however use the kit supplied plastic parts with some mods, detailing and tweaking.
It'll be mixed media...plastic, brass, aluminum and whatever treasures I scrounge on my way. I plan on posting in progress pics so I'll post a few of what I'm starting with in my next post.
Rob....I don't know what I'm going to call it or what color it will be yet, hee, hee.
Grandpa McGurk.....Steppin' Large and Livin' easy.

Hye Don, what's the secret color?

What's this? A heckler already? I have 2 R/C bodies. My good buddy M.F. sent me a red one and Don's Rods 1 sent me the blue one a while back. I'm doing 1 chassis and engine with interchangeable bodies. One will be a coupe and I'll brush up my plastic welding skills and make a radical chopped pickup out of the other. During construction they will both be sporting Hot Rod Suede.

I'll try to follow along on this one. I also have the red '41 coupe with a blown Plymouth. Got plenty of styrene sheets to work with also.
    Be nice or else ~1~**

Guido.....are you done playing with it yet?

Follow along, if you have any intention of building your own version the first step is to remove all that R/C gear, toss it in a box you may need a bit or two if you decide on working lights etc. or it may come in handy for some other project.

The journey begins....here's a quick couple pics of the the stuff I've gathered. I've stripped 'em of R/C gear and started cutting up the blue one for the P.U. body. The street and blown 1/6th hemis are in the boxes......just to give you new members a perspective of how big these things are, that's a 1/25th Willys coupe sitting on the roof of the red one.

I still can't get over the fact that I got mine fer less than 20 bucks brand new!! There are 1/25 scale kits that cost more than that. On another note.. As for gettin' my jollies out of rippin' up and down the sidewalk with it.. I haven't had the chance. I did chase the dog around the house with it though!

........ I was thinking about a 1/6 scale blown 392 motor for the '41. I'd like to try and copy the GMP Greer, Black and Prudhomme 392 motor that they came out with. It has the Hilborn 4-port injector on top of it.

Cool...if you decide that you want to build one....by all means, go for it. Keep in mind, I'm building a street-able blown 426 engine and you are leaning towards a drag strip hand grenade.
Whatever blows your skirt up. One of the reasons I'm not just plugging the drag engine into the Willys is it's not street-able. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. I guess you could call it a retro rod. 10 spoke front wheels, but not spindle mounts.....they will have small disc brakes and the familiar 5 lug bolt lug pattern.
