Hi. This is my first post on the forum. I have always admired the magnificent works of Gerald Wingrove and Ken Foran, and a couple of years ago he decided to try to do this kind of model. I want to share their efforts to build a fully detailed model of Mercedes SSK in 12 scale.I started with the fact that he attempted to build this model in my favorite 43, but think about the level of detail at this scale, I was not too tough. Making the frame and rear, I gave up and moved down one level to the scale 1 / 24. At this scale, recognized by modelers around the world opportunities to order more, but of course, there are growing demands for detail. And then, when the model reached a certain level, the internal differences between the desires of my technological capabilities and again forced me to change the scale, going from 24 to 12. The first "achievement" in these photos

Hi Alexgol, You are doing a great job here. My first attempt at wire wheels was on the SSK - I made them in plastic but it did not work out and I never finished the car. It looks as if you only soft solder parts on photos - any problems putting this together?

This is incredible, Alexgol. Please show us more. I am also interested in knowing if you're working from your own drawings. The SSK is one of my favorite care, so I'll be watching closely. Chris

Thank you. Drawings and photographs which I took to build a model of the network. The manufacture of wire wheels I'll explain later. When soldering use a variety of fastening devices, from the clutches of up to paperclips.Fuel tank.

A little bit about the wheels. Wheel rim and hub grind on a lathe, for the spokes used guitar strings. Master model tire machined from plexiglass and glued the letters received by photo-etching. Then took shape and molded tires.

Excellent idea photoetching letters for tyres - painting them like Wingrove is beyond me. Also do you "thread" wheels or "staple" like me?1/12 Mercedes SSK-img_0039.jpg
