    Ive been waiting a long time to see a tutorial on carving a body buck. Once your done showing us the details of how to do this do you mind me coping it over to the Articles area?

    An old model maker trick. When working with wood blocks like this at times a center line is critical for measuring.

    The best way is to glue two blocks together, however add lamp black used to tint paints to the glue to darken it. When the blocks are glued you then have a consistent center line no matter how much is cut away. Also two blocks will also help reduce checking or splitting. Multiple sections can be used for more reference lines when carving. I use this technique on a smaller scale when carving propellers for my planes with different types of wood laminated together.

    Give it a try the next time.
