It's a really cool research vessel. I'd love to build a model of it.

      Thanks, Lee

Welcome to the site, Lee. Glad to see you found us. Do you have any pictures of the vessel? That may help.

I'm glad I found the site, too.

The Trieste descended to 35,800ft below sea level in 1960. I remember reading about it as a kid. I was just fascinated.

Maybe some of our sub builders could help on this one. It looks like it would make a great display especially weathered up.

I can't help but wonder if it inspired the Beatles Yellow Submarine.

    Hi Lee

Google the "Victoria Model Shipbuilding Society". I used to be a member of the Club and they had a member who was big into submarine history. If he's still around he may be able to help you.

I've posted some drawings and 3d images of the Trieste in my gallery for you. Sorry the plans are so small, but that's all I have. The photo you have posted above was taken while it was in testing in Italy before the dive. My markings are as during the dive.

Attached are two photos, one shows her just before the dive (notice the orange band around the tower) and the other is in the Pacific preparing for the first of the test dives (notice no orange band).

Nice photos and renderings. Regarding the plans- do you have a hard copy, or can you read the dimensions on what you have? I can't quite make out the measurements. It looks like the length is 57 feet and change. That would make 1/32 or even 1/48 a good scale. Neat stuff, Caiella. Really neat stuff. I have always been fascinated by the Trieste.
