        Is anybody building a runabout, tall ship, hydro, tug or ?? Show us what you're doing.

        Re Nort's comments above in the "Workbench" thread......its going to be a while before the Allison is ready, but is anyone thinking about building a boat thats set up for the Allison?

      Yes it would, Don. It would be like taking a shower withe 50 grit sandpaper. It hurts like crazy but you do it to yourself.

      Beautiful - the white contrast with the wood finish makes me want to now try boat building. Darn and I have to finish the airplane first.

      This boatbuilding thing is addictive!

      Working with wood is a nice change of pace from plastic. In fact, I like this one so much I've already ordered my next boat:



      This kit is made in Spain. Rosewood, walnut, mahogany, birch, etc. This one looks like a whole lot of fun! I love the detail level on this...but since it'll be only my second boat model, I hope I'm not getting in over my head...

      Okay Harry..........I tried to warn you about the addictive side of working with wood. The paddle wheeler will really spark your interest in wood boats......then (guess what?) you know you are going to have to tackle a fully rigged tall ship, YES with a double planked hull!

      ok, ye landlubbers (that's sailor lingo...now that I'm an "old salt" I get to talk like that... )...

      Here's the finished product. I have to say I'm pretty happy with it, considering I've never built a wooden ship before, or installed rigging, etc. I learned a lot of new boat lingo like "halyard", "bowsprit", "lazy jacks", "transom", etc... Now I could fake my way onto the crew of a yacht!!!

      No real problems at all. The hardest part is the rigging, because of the delicacy of the parts. I was afraid I'd break something in the process, but everything was "smooth sailing" (groan)...

      Really a beautiful build!

      I like the lines of this boat so much I think I would rather build it than the complicated River Boat. I saw the River Boat advertised in GarrettWade Tools but where does this model come from?

      Harry, that's a great job done on that boat. Youy're definitely an old salt now. I can never be an old salt. My doctor told me I needed to cut down on my salt intake.
