Hey marco, buon giorno. What I'll do is visit the US Air Force museum near where I live. I know they have an exhibit for the early Wright Fliers there and I may be able to get some of the pictures you need. I have a feeling that there are some differences between the earliest and the later fliers and they may be with the control surfaces. You can also ask John Reid for his opinion. He's well aquainted with the fliers and if anyone knows about them, he definitely should. Have a great holiday and new year. Buon Natale. I hope I said that right.

Hi Marco,

The 1909 Flyer had several differences from the 1903 Flyer. The Wright Brothers learned very quickly in those 6 years, and this was their 3rd version of the Flyer

The wings were different structures, shapes, and sizes (Wing Span 1903 40'-4", 1909 36'-6")
The canard, and rudder were spaced further apart for added stability (Length 1903 20'-1", 1909 28'-11")
The landing skid was redesigned and was much more forgiving on landings
The engine was now a vertical 4 cylinder, rather than a horizontal 4 cylinder (1903 16hp, 1909 31 hp)
The pilot was now sitting and using 2 sticks to control pitch and roll. In 1903, they were laying down and used their hips to warp the wings to control roll.

I think using the Model Airways kit would take a lot work. The wing ribs would work, just shorten them up, but the rest of the structure would have to be scratch built, including the engine.

Hey marco. Last weekend, I went to the Air Force museum and got some pictures of the 1909 Flyer they have there. I have to put some of them through photoshop to correct some lighting problems (the museum is normally very dark inside). I'll finish that and send them to you. I hope they'll help you. :)'

I could not find reference points to begin a design, but in June, 'I have planning to visit the museum military aircraft of Rome, the technical managers and military commanders contacted by phone became available to help me with my project.
