      Hi again folks :-D

While I am waiting for the solder to dry on my 1/16th scale Fokker Dr1 build, I thought I would post some pictures to illustrate the kind of modelling I was involved in before giving up around three years ago

This is a 1/6th scale Caudron GIII and it is based after a Polish variant because it had ailerons instead of the normal wing warping. I drew the plans myself hoping it would be aerodynamic enough to fly. It took around six months to draw the plans and build the model.

I will never forget that day when I took it down the flying field and lined her up into wind for the first time. Easing the throttle open, I watched nervously as the model build up speed, lift off the ground then flew….. beautifully. I felt like Rene and Gaston Caudron must have felt when their real version of the G111 flew for the first time in 1914

For me.. a maiden flight of a scratch built aircraft was the ultimate model “rush”

      Thanks for looking
