Hi Guys, Im a newbie here so if I do something wrong..be gentle with me till I get the hang of this forum

As a brief introduction to myself, Im not a newbie to making models but was mostly involved in larger scale WW1 aircraft (up to ¼ scale) which flew under radio control. Sometimes they crashed under human control too. I gave up modelling around three years ago when I quit smoking. I lost all patience and interest in all things intricate.

No… I have not started smoking again..but hopefully, I’m now renewing my interest to be creative and make things again. Please give me a nudge or tip or two if you see me wandering off or doing something wrong.

The model I have started is something totally new to me. A 1/16th scale scratch built Fokker Dr1. Im trying to copy the style of xken with a brass fuselage and wooden wing parts etc… so Ken, if you are reading ..I hope you can forgive me trying to emulate your style .. and I will be keen to get the odd tip or two from you

It may be a slow build process as I have recently changed job and work away from home during the week. However, it only took me a weekend to frame the fuselage this far. Hopefully you guys can give me some feedback if there is an interest in this model build.

      Thanks for looking

One wheel on my wagon and now Im rolling on.
Some say you never finish a scale model, you only stop..well that’s what Im doing for now.

Yup..sadly..the best laid plans of mice and men .. it took more brass than I anticipated to spoke the wheel and I have ran out of the small stuff. It will be a week or so before I can get more. Don’t you just love it when a stick gets thrown in your spokes ?

Im on holiday for a couple of weeks and want to get the work bench converted back to the kitchen table before I go. Therefore I will leave you for now with the attached photos and the following thought.

A few years ago when I was researching the internet for information on an airplane, I ran across some photos of the DR1 built by our very own Ken Foran. To say that my jaw dropped in amazement is an understatement. However, not only did ken’s model inspire me, I also swore that one day I would make one too. That day has now arrived and I have fulfilled another of my little dreams.

I started this thread in the hope that it may also inspire someone somewhere sometime to build a little part of their dream. Thanks again for looking and to those who commented. A very special thank you to Ken for the inspiration that you share around the world with your models.

Donnie it is looking really great now even with only one wheel. Thank you for your kind words about my models. I have always strived to share my knowledge and skills whenever I can. I am glad you have fullfilled a dream. Without dreams life would be a drudgery.

I have drawings of the Model A and B Flyer like those posted of the DRI. Let me know if you need them and I will scan and post for you.

Have a great holiday! Best regards. Ken

You're definitely on my list of master builders, Donny. Keep up the great work.
