The fuel tank of the kit brings the main body casting, the filler cap, the fuel gauge, sediment vial and 2 PE cover plates...
The sediment vial was used, though I turned the lower part of it an added a turned transparent yellowish sediment vial which is more like the 1:1 thing.
The fuel gauge was used but I added a brass bezel ring which allowed for the photo reduction decal which was in turn bathed in Future, which gave a very good crystal appearence, the sitting of the gauge in the top of the tank was made with a turned scale brass washer...
To continue the superdetailing as per data, I fabricated a fuel drain cock from brass, which is made from 6 different parts, and you can open and close it!
The filling cap was made from aluminum, knurled and highly polished to resemble chrome, the filling spout was turned from brass...the cap is threaded to the spout, so you can take it out....
The PE covers were too thin, so I replaced them with 0.4 mm thick brass plates, and added some 4 mm angle as reinforcements to the lower portion of the tank (1:1 data)
This plates are also enhanced by the addition of scale bolts...
To cut the plates and to locate the bolt's drilling with precision, a drawing was made in Autocad, plotted 1:1 scale and used as a pattern...(Last pic.)
Finally, I gave the whole tank a rubbing with cold blue solution, giving it a weathered brass look which I find most gratifying...
Yes, I know I'm pretty sick.....
Till later...
