Some time ago there was discussion on how this would be the kit to build and how hard it was to find. Well one just went up for sale on ebay 150242764732

I imagine it will be expensive.

Oh - that's where I heard about it. By the way - Mouppe you mentioned the Hasegawa Camel only had laser stenciled ribs instead of laser cut like the Model Airways. Did you have to cut out each rib and were the sheets balsa or basswood?

It is bad enough sanding all the char - I would have given up if I had to cut out each rib.

    Joe,

Are you sure you want sell this kit? You may find you love building the first two and regret not having the third one to complete the set.

I will follow the action and see how much it goes for- maybe to me!

Hey Mouppe thanks for the vote of confidence, but as I stated in a prior thread with all of my Pochers, and the 2 Hasegawa 1/8 planes, that will keep me busy into my late seventies! LOL!!

Heck my entry in the Pocher concours will be a pic of a Pocher box at this point in time......LOL!!!!!!!

I just have had a major slooooooooooowdown in all the stuff I like to do (models) as I tackle car repairs (just bought my son a car that needs a lot of TLC) and re-doing a bathroom and painting the interior of my house.......to keep the Queen happy!

Just grabbed an SE5a 1/8 scale model by Hasegawa off Ebay. Been over a year since I completed the Sopwith Camel from the same series, but I enjoyed building it so much I have been looking for the SE5a to pair with it.

Hopefully I will be able to start it in the next few weeks, and complete it by the end of September/ October before when I will need the garage again. The Camel took me two months, but I should be able to rattle through the SE5a a little quicker.

Hey mouppe, go ahead and start a new thread for the kit when you begin the build. I'd love to see how you go about it.

    Hi,

Does anyone have an SE5a kit lying around? Mine is missing the full size diagrams and I would like to copy them.

    Oops

Cool, I'll be following this build.....thanks Mouppe. It's my favorite of the 3 in the series. I haven't built a really large plane since that fatal day when my scratch built 6ft. wingspan Ryan STA (R/C) decided to run away from home. It took me forever to complete and on her maiden voyage my radio took a crap and away she went into the wild blue yonder with a full tank of fuel. Perhaps your build will rekindle that spark for me.
