Thanks Rob. I used thin strips of soda can aluminum. It's thin, it's cheap and it's plentiful. The wife drinks diet Sunkist burpsies and the recycle bin is always full. The only thing you have to do before you use it is sand off the coating on both sides of the aluminum. I cut a piece a few inches long, sand away and cut whatever I need. I think it's even thinner than the litho aluminum plate Irongwing used on his P51 on LSP.

The majority of the wiring and plumbing has to be done after the bulkheads have been cemented into the fusilage.

Last night, I started to experiment with some materials and wound up with a big success. I originally was going to cement the doors between the bulkheads open an non movable. I was going to fabricate some false hinges as extra details but with a little figuring, I wound up making a functional door hinge. I only had enough time to make one but that one pretty well demonstrates how the door works. The next step is to make a second hinge, add the door latch and the metal stripping on the door to make it fit the complete opening. More fun this weekend.

I think he means what did you use to make the straps holding the fire extinguisher. It looks like a metal strip with a series of holes cut into it. I also noticed it on the bulkhead behind the navigator's table. It sort of looks like an automobile hose clamp.

You nailed it, Boomer. Before I switched to 1/8 scale, I had bought a number of PE sets for 1/24. I found a set with a whole bunch of hose clamps on it that I never used. I tried one and it looked great. Otherwise I would have used some metallic tape augmented with a little CA. If you thin out the soda can aluminum (aluminium for you guys across the pond), you can cut thin strips off and use that.

Thanks Brizio for the kind words. Since I'm working on the 57 Chevy for the contest, I'm going to put the B17 on the side for a short while. As soon as I get the Chevy done, I'll be back to the Fortress. this is not over by any means.
