greetings from Northern California...I started building at 6. am still at it 51 years later and cant get enough. my motivation is realism -cars with patina, barn finds even derelicts. in the last 5 years I am doing more kit bashing Introduce Yourself and finished my first scratch build Introduce Yourself in 1/16 scale. now I have turned to 1/8 and it looks like this is the site for me. my complements to all of the incredible builders here..this is what its all about!

    Hello All,
My introduction to modeling started at the age of 8 with 1/24 stand alone car engines, then cars ,aircraft specifically WWI, ships and Armor I am 65 now so,
I guess after all this time I probably have "Testors" in my veins. I am honored to be a member of this site and will try to contribute when I can, however, I
more than likely will be an information hound................sometimes it's good to just listen and learn.

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is my pleasure to be accepted into the community. Let me start with some information about myself. I have been collecting 1/18 scale diecast models for 20 years and have accumulated 200 plus cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers, tool sets, ATVs and heavy equipment models. The manufactures range from Autoart and Kyosho to Maisto and Bburago. The bulk of my collection are Chevrolet vehicles, Corvette Pace Cars, Concept Cars, and race cars with Camaro Pace Cars, street cars and race cars. I have few exotics, some unique concept cars and chopper motorcycle. I hope that I will fit in with you all!!!

    With Best Regards,
    MZ6JLT

Hello, just joined. Will build first Pocher kit-white Ferrari Testarossa for my grandson. Haven't molded for 50 years. Wondering how much time building kit will take. Looking forward to learning from posts.

    G'day All,

Recently joined and figured my first post should be an introduction... Australian-based member, have been collecting and building static model kits since I was a young boy but have been on hiatus for the last 10 years or so. Due to changes in my personal life, my modelling interest has been renewed and looking to equip myself and become active in the hobby once again. In my early years I was primarily in to Tamiya Introduce Yourself 1/24 auto, 1/12 bike and 1/48 aircraft kits, but with age my interest has headed towards the larger scale offerings. I work in aviation but have a keen interest in cars/bikes as well, so at the moment my current model kit inventory covers both interests - 1/32 Kittyhawk T-28 Trojan, 1/48 Monogram B-58 Hustler, 1/8 Pocher F-40, 1/8 Pocher 911 & 1/4 Pocher Ducati 1299. None of my kits are in-progress but looking forward to changing that and drawing from (and sharing mine) the experience of all the contributing forum members. After a brief look, there's a lot of skilled modellers on here! Fantastic stuff.

    Cheers
    Andrew

Hello from Winnipeg! I am Dennis, going by Dennisinwinnipeg, looking forward to these forums as I've only started taking large scale seriously. I've been very active in 1/24/25th scale for years and dabbled in large scale long ago, before I knew what I was doing, so I have some poorly built and a lot of unbuilt large scale cars and parts. Cheers!Introduce Yourself-p1090576-jpgI just tried to upload a photo of a 1/24th Aston Martin that I built to see how to post photos.

Hi. Real name is Robert as you probably guessed. 84yo. My dad was an O gauge Railroad builder so I was introduced to modeling almost from birth. Helped my dad sometimes but never really got into modeling except occasionally and not overly enthused about it either.
That all changed when I began modifying my 41 ford. I was a member of a small hot Introduce Yourself rod club. Over the years my interest was in 1:1 Introduce Yourself cars.

My first model build was an F1 of, now, indeterminate scale. It was really something just to kill time while I was away from home playing at being a 21 dealer in Reno for the summer.

It wasn't until 8 or 10 years ago that I started auto modeling. A friend gave me a Ferrari (still sitting in the outbuilding) unfinished along with a Lotus Europa and MG TC.

    I did finish, later, a 1:24 Ferrari and a Porsche 911 GT1,

I have no idea how this became a "Sticky" thread. Some moderator should move it down into the regular posts.

    Thanks, Robert

My name is Rick and I just joined SMC. Been building model kits (mostly cars) since I was a kid. I'm 71 and have recently retired so I can spend more time on my hobby. I specialize in large scale kits (Pocher, Tamiya Introduce Yourself , etc.) and am currently building the Tamiya Introduce Yourself Caterham Super Seven JPE. Man, those screws are tiny!!! Anyone have suggestions for a good quality screw starter; I already have a slot head screw holder and nut starter, but these are verrrrry small philips head.
