Here are the humble beginnings of "Project Copper Head".... Boxed 32 frame with TDR Project "Copper Head" front and rear independent suspension. 4 wheel disc brakes and coil overs..I replaced the springs from the kit with some I found at Mcmaster Carr... The power plant is a TDR Project "Copper Head" 427 side oiler with a 4 speed top loader transmission..Im not decided on the induction system at this time so I painted both..There are a boat load of parts !! I spent all day priming, sanding Project "Copper Head" and painting and still have at least another days worth to go.. This will keep me busy for awhile until I can get back to the dragster and the nice thing is I can park it in "Mike's Garage" display next to the Turbo Coupe between builds....
Still not sure if it will be a Roadster or 3 window at this point or if I will run fenders.
The body will be 2 tone Silver and Copper Metallic Project "Copper Head" ..and the suspension and engine components are a hammered copper and nickel A little different look than chrome or aluminum...
If I do a roadster, This "Foose" build will be my inspiration.

I vote for the three window coupe, chopped to the point of a mail slot rear window and sectioned just enough to make it mad!

Choppin the "Poo" out it would be sinister looking for sure...Defiantly a thought....There will allot of decisions to be make during this build..I still have to put this plethora of parts together just to get a roller.....That's cool as I try not to rush my builds...( If I can help it....)
On another note , I went to a buddies today to weld up some stainless mufflers and he gave me this cabinet..Check it out.. Its about 23 x 25 x about 5 1/2 feet tall on locking wheels..I used it for a mobile spray booth Put my portable booth and turn tables in the top compartment and compressors on sliding shelf in the middle compartment , supplies in the drawer and big storage in bottom..Still has to be wired and organized and a light installed and ill have to make some sheet metal racks to add to the side to hold all my rattle cans..This should work out pretty sweet when I get it all set up.... Might even give it new coat of paint

Been thinking about the chop on the 3 window...Might look at doing something like this......with 2 tone paint it might look pretty cool...

Project "Copper Head"-img770-jpg Project "Copper Head"-32-3-window-chop-jpg Now I just have to decide if I want to "section" the body a "smidge" and whether or not to run fenders...All my Deuces are fender less..fenders will hide all the suspension detail so I might go without on this one and fender up my flat head roadster......Decisions ...Decisions..

Mike, you might consider bobbed rear fenders and cycle fronts, that raked chop will really give the coupe a go fast look sitting still...you mentioned sectioning it as well....if you do a tapered section it will add even more to the nose down swoopy appearance.
I cut this roadster body right along the lower edge of the beltline (makes for less body work and easier to hide the seam).
It's hard to tell in this pic because of the angle but I removed a little over a 1/4'' from the front and hardly anything from the rear.
Running a set of big 'n littles would accentuate the nose in the dirt - butt in the air attitude even more.

Thanks for the tip and pics to go with it Don.. Chopping these resin Project "Copper Head" bodies isn't so bad but not sure how they do when serious surgery is done on them..Any experience ?

Yep, that section job with the deep chop on the top would give it a mean as hell look for sure. I like the idea of cycle fenders on the front with a nice set of skinnies, not real keen on the bobbed look for the back though. Just my (less then) humble opinion.

In my experience resin Project "Copper Head" plus CA is as strong as you could ever want. I've never had any problems with strength in that aspect.

Cool..I used CA on the 5 widow chop and seemed to hold well..I think I might (maybe) run painted steelies with moons and beauty rings in a big and little combination on "Copper Head" ....Still undecided about fenders....Im still a ways off from even starting the body though..Still have a bunch of parts to finish and assemble to get the chassis to a roller.

Looking at different tire and wheel combos. The pair at the top right i bought as torque thrusts but are actually Rockets...maybe body color the spokes.......like I said,,Decisions, Decisions...

Mike, as you know CA or epoxy Project "Copper Head" is a must when altering resin Project "Copper Head" . When I'm doing a butt joint (like chopping or sectioning) I drill coresponding holes in the edges of the sections to be joined (a lot like wood working, huh?). I then CA a short length of stiff wire or plastic rod in the holes on one side, apply CA to the wires and other section & clamp (or hold together). For an even stronger bond I sometimes use a dremel Project "Copper Head" & bur to run a shallow groove along the seam, fill with 2 part epoxy Project "Copper Head" and sand Project "Copper Head" smooth. This eliminates the need for a reinforcing strip on the back of the seam if it's in an area where it's visible. It also tends to reduce the chance of your joint cracking right along the seam (resin can shrink a little over time resulting in a hair line crack along the seam).
If you cut your body along the bottom edge of the belt line and it does develope a hair line crack...at least it won't be as obvious as it would in the middle of a panel.

Any of that make any sense to ya ?
