I'd like to fully detail the interior on my Coupe and take advantage of the excellant tutorial on button tuffting the seats. All the detail work will be somewhat wasted without having functioning doors on the body.

Cutting out the doors seems straightforward enough, but hinging and aligning will be the tricky part so that the doors close tightly, and flush with even gaps.

Can anyone give me some advise as to whether scale hinges are available, and any tips or techniques in doing this properly?

Also what type of filler works best with the resin Cutting and hinging doors on the 3 window coupe resin body molds as I'm sure getting the gaps to line up properly will take some effort.

Any advice on this intimidating venture is greatly appreciated.

Hey John. If you have any questions on the button tufting, let me know. There sould be a tutorial on the door hinging somewhere. I'll have to search for it myself since I'm not sure if it survived our great computer crash a year or two ago. It was done by Esteban Loco and was a very good tutorial. I'll check my own files to see what I have and then get back to you. :)'

Thanks, I appreciate it, that's the one detail I'm a little hesitant on diving into and i didn't see that in the huge section of tutorials I finally stumbled on.

John, there are door hinges in the kit that you can use to hinge your resin Cutting and hinging doors on the 3 window coupe resin body doors.

Well, I was right. It looks like my worst scenario came true. The tutorial on hinges didn't survive the crash and I don't seem to have anything in my files worth a plug nickel. RC is right. The kit does have some hinges that you caan use but if you have the 3 window coupe, you'll need 3 hinges for each door and the kit has only 2 on each side. Still, there's hope. Let me do a little research on how to make a few hinges and I'll try to solve your problem from scratch. It shouldn't be that difficult.

Hey John, I just took a closer look at your 3 window coupe and realized something I didn't before. You have the hidden hinges and the tutorial I mentioned wouldn't work there anyway. This calls for a redesign which I'm going to play around with. I have a couple of other models which have opening doors and hidden hinges. I'll try to work something off of that and go from there. One thing you can do if you can. Would you take a couple of pictures for me with the door of the coupe open showing how the hinges look in action? I'll try to work out a design from that. :)'

    John,
You might get a Speedway Motors catalog or check their website. Tons of hotrod parts should give you plenty of ideas on what the parts look like.

No problem then. I'll do a little research on my own car and I'll try to come up with a solution.

Your a good man. Dont kill yourself on it though. I have to make sure I can master your Button tuffed seats technique to make it worth opening the doors.

It clearly appears you may be a tad more skilled than I.
