First Build/ Big Duece, some questions

As for your wheels I have these with a metal center and resin rim. You can easily offset to whatever size you want since the centers are removable.

I also have a Torque Thrust almost exactly like your Deuce but those are cast in resin .

I would be interested in that, but the rear were 17's and the front were 15's, so they're two different size rims.

I was assuming all of the resin Torque thrust were 1/8 scale of 15" Rims.

I also have the dilema of getting them chromed (or the illusion thereof)

With the metal inserts you can polish those to look like polished aluminum and you could mount those in whatever rims you wanted. You could also have them chrome plated .

Your right the centers are made up from a 15" so you would need to make your own rims or order a custom scaled set from the TDR guys. They might be able to do the tires as well.

Going through this site has given me a lot of ideas. I'd like to make this a Museum quality reproduction of my car. luckily, i have lots of good detail photos of the car for referance.

The main issue i want to resolvve is the machine turned dash and firewall. If I can get this reproduced on a small enough exact scale it should be nothing short of dynamic. I've contacted the company who produced my original firewall (haneline) and have found a smaller scale firearm jeweler who specializes in smaller scale turning. One of these two should be able to produce it. I image I'll need a 1/8" bit or smaller to get close to the correct scale effect.

Finiding the build the Gentleman is doing with the Brass Model T has also given me a lot of inspiration and finding the miniature hardware available will add a level of detail I hadn't previously thought of. That will definately bring it to the next level using as much hardware as possible instead of simply gluing parts together.

The interior was all Button tuffted so that will cause some challenges as I may have to sculp and cast the effect in resin .

Carpeting using the fine dust material laid onto a glued surface is also a neat detail I hadn't thought of.

Chroming is my other dilema as I'm concerned simply painting Rims and engine parts with Chrome paint wont bring the car to the level I'm hoping. That and maybe adding a lighting kit to illuminate the head and tailights.

I may have to fabricate my own banjo Wheel which may also also be a challenge.

Finding the guts to take the Resin 3 window body and modifying for opening doors is another fear I may not overcome to attempt it.

I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions and be begging for advice on certain stumbling blocks but am very happy I found this sight and am truly amazed at the quality of many of your builds.

The scratch builds I've seen some of you produce simply blow me away.(The Brass T especially)

While I consider myself pretty skilled and have built many Street Rods, Muscle cars and motorcycles to a full frame off level, the attention to detail and exactness on some of these scratch builds amazed me. (and I'm not easily impressed)

I'm really excited about his project and feel an obsessive drive I haven't felt for a very long time.

This is going to be a great build. Make sure you take lots of in progress pic's.

In regards to the interior, Jeff, aka "Hot Ford Coupe" has a great interior tutorial and I'm sure he'll walk you through doing yours. Have a look at what he's already posted, I'm sure it will answer some of your questions.

You may be surprised at how good the chrome paints are, especially if the parts are properly prepped. I think there may also be a tutorial on painted chrome somewhere on site. It might have been Syd or HFC who wrote it, but I'm not sure.

Opening doors can be a challenge but it really ads another dimension to a model. Some folks use an exacto knife while others use a jewlers saw. The thing to remember is to TAKE YOUR TIME and plan ahead.

Ask lots of questions, someone here will help you.

If it's cheaper to do a full nest of machine turned firewalls and dashes, do you think there would be demand for them? If done right, it should look like jewelry and be a stunning detail.

Not to turn a profit, but to share the cost if it's cheaper nesting the parts in a group.

Just curious if there'd be any demand. I know doing it on my full scale car had a magnificent impact and totally changed the look of the car inspiring a jaw dropping effect.

I can only imagine it will be stunning on any scale.

I was worried about trying to figure out how to produce 17's and 15's Torque Thrusts, but the big and little tires with the 40 Ford caps are looking pretty good to me.

My hand's not as steady as it was as a youngster apperantly, but it's passable and sure does give some nice detail. (I was struggling with static a little and that's the best i could get em, but they look a lot better when not enlarged) I remember that being a little easier back in the day.

I think I'll go with these old school shoes.

This project probably isn't a good idea as i'm betting i'll be building a 1:1 scale car by Spring because of it.

Its looking good so far..Did the big and little tires come with the kit?..I'll be getting the same kit very soon and starting to source parts for my build aswell....looking for any photoetch, resin , or metal aftermarket parts.
