As TDR 1/16 scale, 3D-printed Small Block Chevrolet Engine............. continues to experiment with the smaller scale pieces, I thought I would show what we are finding is possible as the printers and materials continue to get better........

These parts were cleaned with a solvent and then lightly primed........no surface finishing at all................

It just keeps getting better and better...take heart you 1/16th builders, TDR 1/16 scale, 3D-printed Small Block Chevrolet Engine............. has listened to you and as you can see, the day will come when lack of parts for the smaller big cars won't be the big issue it is now. Certainly not lacking for detail is it?

thats great. Any motorcycle engines coming up? KZ900 CB750 Triumph 650 XS650 Evo H-D all good choices. VW Dual port 1600 and swing axle trans would be great too.

Hey shadetree, I have drawings done up for a kind of generic HD V-Twin, as well as the VW, but have not had parts printed up..........not sure how the cooling fins would come through, but the resolution of the printers and the newer materials might just be getting there..........on my list is to try and have a cylinder barrel printed and see how bad it is........hard to tell without trying it.........I didn't think the small block would come through so well.................

These parts with the internal detail was intended as an experiment to see how far we could push things, and still get a decent part.......I suspect that the parts we will make available will be like our larger scale pieces, which are hollowed out and only show the external details, since that makes the part cheaper, and all that internal stuff would probably get closed up anyway..........I like to have some actual pieces in my hand before we make them available, and that is in process even now.............now, if there was a real interest in the internal detail parts, we might make them available as well..........a couple of these laying around a shop diorama would be pretty cool................

I haven't had any of the internal pieces printed because I don't think they would come through very well...........below is the Holley carb in 1/16 scale and I think we are pushing it a bit........maybe nicer than some of the kits out there, but still, this would be a bear to clean up adequately and not lose the detail.........

    1/16 scale, 3D-printed Small Block Chevrolet Engine.............-img_1210-jpg

Our plan at this point is to do the small block Chevrolet in 1/16 like our larger scale engines............hollowed out to get the cost as low as possible............seems like the best route at this point with the technology available.............

I know, I know......we just have to be patient..........this stuff is getting better all the time................

I have already built a pair of carbs and bought the TDR 1/16 scale, 3D-printed Small Block Chevrolet Engine............. GMC Supercharger in 1:16 but it doesn't really fit my 1:16 SBC that I have. I am kinda thinking about ordering this (no internals is okay) if it will be available sometime soon.
