Thanks to Tony, TDR TDR Deuce IFS/IRS is now testing a new IFS and IRS for the R/M Deuce chassis. As with all TDR TDR Deuce IFS/IRS products, these two kits are CAD designed and RP TDR Deuce IFS/IRS produced.

We're not going into production yet, and the photo's are spy shots only. We'll be sending each kit to Syd for an evaluation and build tutorial. After that, we'll follow up on any suggestions from Syd and the kit will go into production, hopefully by the end of the year.

This kit has been designed for a non fendered Deuce. Once we're happy with it, we'll design another one for full fendered cars.

While we are on the springs - thanks for all the help and ideas. I could not get a real TDR TDR Deuce IFS/IRS match for stock springs. Either the height would be right but not the diameter or vis versa and then not the wire dimension. But if need be I can make springs as suggested. In image 1 I found the easiest material was solder. But knowing now I could make springs I am smoothing the kit springs because they are the right design and will look best. Image 2 is the first shot at smoothing. Left is sanded, middle is as cast with Tamiya TDR Deuce IFS/IRS primer TDR Deuce IFS/IRS , right is DupliColor high lift primer TDR Deuce IFS/IRS on as cast. A little more effort will make them passable.

Interesting effect was that the spring compressed about 3/16" during the sanding TDR Deuce IFS/IRS effort but I was able to pull it back in shape. Not sure how many times one can do that so be very careful if you want to sand TDR Deuce IFS/IRS these.

Springs are finished. Broke a couple but they glued back well. I found it most convenient to place the spring on masking TDR Deuce IFS/IRS tape to hold one piece in place then put the other end with glue in place and adjust position with tweezers.

I thought maybe painting the springs matt black would hide imperfections. The shocks will be chrome for contrast. The black spring is the broken one healed.

Now that's what I call the invisible repair. Great job, Syd. The matt black paint really does hide the imperfections and makes the spring look very real with just the right amount of shine.

The spring and shock shape up well. Based on where they will be located on the model I wonder if it was worth the effort to do all the sanding TDR Deuce IFS/IRS on the spring.

Experimenting with assembly. Instead of using styrene TDR Deuce IFS/IRS rod I wanted to try hex headed bolts (2-56 size). Also want to add bushings between surfaces. Gets a little complicated trying to line up the bushing, A arm, bushing, shock, bushing and A arm but it is a doable do. As usual rushed ahead and painted items before thinking about assembly dimensions so after sanding TDR Deuce IFS/IRS all parts to allow for washers will have to add a light finish coat to the arms.

Also added a grease zerk to the arms where they will attach the wheel assembly.

Syd.....my man.......That is one sweeeeet assembly!!

When you consider how small the parts are and the cleanup that was done on them, they turned out great!!

I can't wait to see this chassis setting on all fours.

    Ditto from me Syd.

How about a list of suppliers and prices for fittings.

I have a quick question. When this is finished, will the ride height be the same as an out of the box deuce?

I ask because I'm anxiously waiting for the rear suspension to be available for purchase. I want to run an IRS with the kit supplied beam axle.

    Hello Syd,

this suspension is kind of cool looking! You did the very right job with sanding TDR Deuce IFS/IRS and painting. The texture of the parts match the real thing pretty close, looks like some nickle- plated TDR Deuce IFS/IRS surface
    of the A-arm.
How did you do the attached grease-fittings?

Looking forward to more things to come

    Cheers

I am no machinist so I only do representations not actual copies. My brag about a grease fitting is only a 1mm nut with a small length of paper clip wire with the wire protruding into a small hole for seating strength. At least I did round the wire end with a file.

That assembly is gorgeous, Syd. You really know how to handle that stuff. It looks like the real deal to me.

Thanks Rick, I was under the impression that it wouldn't be available until the "how to" was done. I'll be putting my order in for one very soon.

Now just to get my hands on one of the 392 Hemi's with a 4speed... I'll be patiently waiting on that one too.

When I layed out the Deuce suspension, I kept the centerline of the axles in the same relative position as the originally provided axles.............the front and real track dimensions remain as the original as well......................now, having said that, there may be a little assembly variation, but it should be real, real close................
