A few years ago I built the Hawk version of the 1948 Ford Flathead. Simple model easily built right out of the box. The detail is very good but the more I look at it now the more I see little defects, mating lines, some of the bolts look more like buttons, etc.

I decided to take the old kit apart to see if it could be made more realistic now that TDR
has introduced us to better hardware parts. The Hawk head comes in two pieces. The water neck is an add on to the head and the studs are not crisp. Also the color seems faded.

I filled in the line where the water neck attaches to the head and used 1/8 scale 1/2" studs from the TDR
bolt set to simulate the 1/6 scale studs. Still have to add a temperature connector and fill the other hole in the water neck. (Hawk did not provide holes in the water neck or temperature sensors.)
