I'm going to give the race car thing a rest for a bit and try something way out there for my skill level but not my imagination. I've owned race cars, but I also owned a track T for several years ( my Grand kids loved it). It had a buggy spring suspension, like the race cars I've been building. I have always toyed with the idea of having a T bucket with an independent suspension front and rear along with inboard springs and shocks. I'm sure it's been done but I want to do it anyway. Along with that a Chevy SB with cross ram injectors and some fashion of an F-1 front nose. So I started drawing plans and building the first parts, this weekend, and I will post the builds progress and how I do stuff if you all are interested. This could be kind of wild.

Sounds really cool. When I read your thread title, I thought you would be combining parts from the Big T and a 1/8 scale F-1 kit. A Cosworth V-8 on the street would be really wild.

I'm a scratch build F1/ T-Bucket guy but I am going to use a Big T body just make my own tail, nose and hood. I love the idea of a Cosworth V-8 and I haven't started building the motor yet. Thanks!

I had a kitbashed aftermarket 1/8th scale Cosworth V8 and assembly video that I just sent to Don along with a bunch of other stuff. There's not an awfull lot of the engine left but there might be enough to get you started. Don will have the package in about a week and will be able to tell you whats there, but if nothing else, I'm sure he'd send you the video as a resource if you decide to build the engine.

Thanks Rick, the Cosworth is right for this car, isn't it? I would appreciate any dimensions or pictures that I could get from any of you. Just one or two dimensions would be all I need. I think those motors are kind of wide at the top, but about the same length as a Chevy. It needs to be a double overhead cam model, I would imagine. Now I'm even more jazzed.

Ken, when the boxes arrive at Don's place I'm sure he will step in and help you. I don't remember there being anything dimensional but the video should help.

Also, I just did a quick Google search of the engine and there's lots of good pictures along with outside dimensions on several sites.

Thanks Rick; I looked at Google and there is a bunch of good stuff, if I can't find anything else, there's probably enough there to give the illusion of a Cosworth engine, which is all I need. What I am stuck on is getting small bolts. The hobby store here doesn't keep much stock, got any ideas? I want 1, 1.5 and 2 mm bolts and nuts. I thought they were sold here but can't find the darn things and shopping the net is a source of frustration for me. Ken

Get one of the Tamiya F1/ T-Bucket F1 kits with a Cosworth. I know the Tyrell P34 six-wheeler has one. Not sure what else. I saw some P34s on ebay at great prices...less than paying for reference pictures. If you get a 1/20 kit, just take measurements and multiply by 2.5. Better yet, get a 1/12 kit, multiply by 1.5, then sell the kit.

Thanks Don, I really appreciate that. Lee, I have always been intrigued by the Tyrell P34. Here's one I drew a couple of years ago. Thanks for your help ( awsome idea for the motor). I think I will gather as much info as possible and build the thing from scratch.

That sounds wild. If you get it copied in resin F1/ T-Bucket , let me know. I'd love to have one. Also let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Thanks Allan, I ordered some today. Lee we'll have to see how the motor turns out and this is sort of a " create as you go" project so if you have more thoughts while I'm building this, please post them. Thank you.

Are you going to build a traditional street rod chassis with a coilover rear end or are you going to incorporate the kit P34 transaxel?

Sorry if I've created another sleepless night..............

Nothing traditional with this car. The front and rear are sort of a modified push rod or rocker arm suspension to get the springs and shocks inboard and as far to the ends of the frame as possible. The rear will have inboard brakes as well as inboard coil overs. This is all my design based on seeing hundreds of ways to reduce unsprung weight and keep the outside the chassis parts small. Crazy, huh? The coolest thing about learning to build models is I can try some ideas I've had for years and it doesn't cost hardly anything as compared to building 1:1 F1/ T-Bucket , especially if they don't work. This one will have a tube/space frame with some aluminum bulkhead stuff going on, to keep it rigid.
