Something's wrong with that picture. Let's see if we could fix it. :D First, the front bumper and mounting brackets need to be unbolted from the frame rails. Then, the front end needs to be raised about 9 or 10 inches. Switch to a '57 Olds rear axle with a set of 3.89 gears and a set of 8 inch wide Racemasters. Add a 3 point roll bar in the interior and 392 under the hood. Should be ready to take her too Pomona by next weekend. :) :D

Even stock that thing looks like a mean machine. All you need for that to be right is a little bigger www tire on the rear, lower the front end a few inches, a good traditional set of flames, a 59 Caddy engine and a space in my garage. The color is great as it is. I may now have a great inspiration for my 1/6 deuce. :) :) :)

I'm going to do this build step by step for those of you that want to follow along. I'll be building the frame and suspension from scratch (fully functional), so you may be able to apply some of things I do to your 1/8th models. I'll be using a number of different materials, plastic, wood, metal, fabrics and so on. I'll explain how I do hidden hinges, some basic casting , wiring for working lights etc. I WILL NOT use any of my drawing or cad programs or any expensive machinery, tools etc. It will all be done with with tools that are readily available to even the beginning modeler, I hope this will help some of our up and coming soon to be master builders. I'll kick it off with some photos.

Still trying to decide if I want to cut this body up to make a pickup....
I'm going to talk with Dan about it, if I do a pickup it would probably be possible to cast it in resin .....3 componets...the one piece nose, cab and the box. It would require a fair amount of resin and 3 separate molds, that might run the cost up too high and I'm not sure there would be enough interest in a 1/6th kit to make it feasible. :confused:

I'll have a little time this weekend to get this big boy started.....if you scroll back to the pics of the coupe and then look at this door opening you'll see that I have some reshaping of the door to do.............



I've decided to do the pickup....I had to struggle with whacking up the body...it's a nice coupe as is, but as you know, I can't leave well enough alone.
So what kind of pickup am I going to do? A gasser? A pro-street? Chopped? Slammed? Retro-rod maybe?

Here's where I'm going until I decide..................

I'll be doing another one of these for the members Willys build when the members '54 chubby gets a bit further along.....this one I'll do from start to
finish...step by step on the forum. Maybe it'll be of help to some of the guys just getting started in big scale. The body will be in sections...cab, box and nose, so the sections would be small enough to cast in resin ...I'll get with Dan to see if they can be cast without the price getting too high. If it works out you would have a 1/6th body without having to scrounge an R/C kit to get it. I'll be doing a modified stock frame for the chassis similar to the Stone, Woods, Cook car. If it can be cast....well we'll see. At any rate I will post dimensions and a materials list in the step by step build, so that you can make your own without going nuts....I'm already certifiable.

I vote like Guido. Make that pickup a gasser with a really hot paint job like Big John Mazmanian.
