For those that are interested, I have started working on the Emerald Deuce again. I had a few build issues (more like design flaws) that needed to be addressed before I could continue. Specifically...1. custom exhaust needed to be fabricated to clear the frame rails 2. radiator needed to be modified to accept hoses straight in instead of at an angle 3. new low-profile radiator hoses needed to be fabricated and 4. an alternate method of mounting the generator needed to be developed (to allow clearance for hoses and other components.)
The results are pictured here. I fabricated a cylinder head mounting bracket for the generator. This gave it more than enough clearance from the hoses as well as the RF spark plug. Instead of gluing
to make an 'ell' I found a piece of plastic in the parts box that already had the 90 deg. bend preformed. This will help in the long run due to the tension that will be placed on the part. Bracket attaches to the head with
0-80
screws.
Other minor issues I have taken care of recently are trunk carpet, bucket seat mounts (they now attach with screws from underneath and will serve to also hold the interior carpet down) and door panels. I also opted for frenched in Pontiac inspired tal lights and license plate and modified the body accordingly.
Firewall had to be re-fabricated from scratch as I had drilled and filled it so many times it was beginning to look like Swiss cheese.
I am probably 5-7 days away from paint and Alclad
. What a relief as this build has been a
WIP
for almost 3 years (although I have not continuosly worked on it).
I've included on overall profile shot today.
I'll try and post pictures as we approach fiinal assembly and of course after.
Thanks,
Steve
