To all who served WE Thank You.
Yesterday I had the honor of being Color Guard Commander of our VVA Chapter at the dedication of the Ohio Veterans Memorial in Clinton, Ohio. It was awesome and moving ceromony that was extremely well attended. The names of 3,095 Ohioans killed in Vietnam are etched in the black granite. As we marched into the area by the stage lead by the Akron Pipe Band an Cessna Birdog flew overhead in miltary camoflage, cannons were fired, rifle salutes and a military Bell Ranger helicopter landed adgacent to the area. I would say the majority of the audience were veterans with the usual smattering of politicans. Both Rolling Thunder and The Patroit Guard were there in full force with thousands of bikes. Two and half hours standing at parade rest was a little hard on the feet and knees of our unit with an average age of 62. But we were there and stood tall for all those that could not.

"A country that forgets its defenders is doomed to extinction". Thanks to everyone who has ever served his/her country. Thanks to all who have put themselves in harms way so that others may live free.

Tomorrow I will again have the honor of being the color guard commander for all miltary massed colors for the Wooster, Ohio Memorial Parade and observances at the Wayne County Veterans memorial. This will be my fifteenth year of doing so. No one seems to object to my being a Canadian citizen in this role.

Way to go, Ken. I just wish I could be there to watch the parade. I also wish I had some of the pictures taken of me while I was active duty. The only decent one I have is me standing behind two other guys holding a cake while I was holding a big spoon and a dopey grin on my face.
