Thank you for posting, not quite Schlumpf-ish, but we all have to start somewhere!

You might know, I have a question about the forged axles. -are they all the same dimensions?

I know some are solid not hollow, and some were made of two lengths joined in the center, but of the continuous forged axles are they all the same design? Type 35, type 50, . . . ?

Hello Noel, I have been looking into the Type 59 wheels, and I’m not sure I understand how the “teeth” fit together?

Do both the central cone and the rim have meshing teeth? And what keeps it all together?

If the rim is bolted to the rest? -then what’s the benefit of the “teeth/gear” arrangement? It seems redundant?

I know it’s been a while since you built your beautiful model, and in any scale smaller than 1/8th, (1/12th in Roger’s case) this detail would have to be suggested, but I was wondering and I remembered your model.

I did get one answer about the axles.

    There were several sizes.

I think the theory behind the Type 59 wheel was that the gearing handled all the torsional forces, and the wires just had to hold everything in place, so you could make it lighter.

Dan, It has been some time since I looked at this thread and there are two more books I can recommend to you specifically about the 35B.
One is by Haynes publishing and the other is by Pen and Sword publishers. HTH.

    Happy New Year to all.
I never did hear from Dan, so I assume that he lost interest in his T35B kit.

On Hiroboy's website where they have details of the MFH Type 35 there is a series of photographs of the kit details. Perhaps another useful reference source to download.

    Hi All! Brilliant news!
Just learnt that Italeri are releasing a Bugatti Type 35B in 1/12th scale this year. YES!
I have been drooling over the MFH kit since its release and trying to be able to justify the cost.
At least with the arrival of this new kit I will not now have to take out a mortgage for the MFH one and get a 35B in the scale I want.

Wow! That is very good news!

    Is there a release date?

I wonder what will be next? -Maserati 250F? -1937 Auto Union type C? -or what they could do is a car that really deserves a model, but has only been done once, the 1927 Delage! -or? An American subject, a Miller 91FWD? (Don't know that car? -you'll love them, painted up yellow and purple!)

I'd like to see an 8CL/T Maserati. Has a lot of cross-over potential given they were both GP cars and Indy cars. Dead easy for the manufacturer too given the remaining two or three examples are very accessible, as are original drawings etc etc

A Miller 91 would be a great subject. They rival Bugattis for that jewelry on wheels look. The Maserati is a god choice too, though if they want to do another Alfa, it would be hard to go wrong with the 8C 2900B Mille Miglia.
