Published in 1979, this image was printed backwards.

Taken from the New Cavendish book; THE MODEL CARS of GERALD WINGROVE, repeated by me, and made correct, here.

Seen by many of his peers, as the most successful, professional, model maker. -Ever.

-And a mentor to many. Writing many articles, and many books.

Mr. Wingrove was also recognized by the Craftsmanship Museum, as Craftsman of the Year. (An annually bestowed award), and was given a MBE, by the Queen of England

For most of his career, Gerald Wingrove worked in partnership with his wife Phyllis. She was in part his manager, secretary, and draughtsman, (woman)

If you look at his earliest plans, they were hand-drawn, and signed Gerald Wingrove, but with the arrival of Mrs. Wingrove, the drawings became much more than they had been. Done to a much tidier degree, in CAD, and now signed PHYLLIS and GERALD WINGROVE. This was a partnership, and it also made his work easier, I assume, and it spilt over into the publishing of those plans in his books, and later, his portfolios.

Returning to modelers previously mentioned, Michele Conti and Henri Baigent.

These pictures were recently sent to me by a new friend:

    Dear Don,

thank you very much posting these wonderful pictures and articles featuring the old masters Michele Conti, Manuel Olive Sans and Gerald Wingrove!

It is amazing that the french coverstory on Contis Ferrari GTC did not identify the correct Ferrari type. It is an 365 GTC, not 330 GTC. For sure Conti used the same wooden buck. The blue 365 GTC had no opening features while the red 330 GTC is an all open model, both have the Campagnolo wheels.

The blue 365 GTC is also presented in this wonderful film:

    Hello Jens!

Nice to hear from you! Thanks for the film clip link!

I hope you are not, nor anyone you know are suffering with the Coronavirus!? -Germany seems to me to have had the sanist response to it. -I am embarrassed by so much of what is going on here in the states!

Changing the subject! -Do you know what this forum needs?

An accounting of your wonderful Alfa build! Your work on that would be of interest to many here! -There are people here working on Pocher kits, Italeri kits, and some are scratch-building whole cars, and several are making engines, and of course, there are those who work "Virtually" as opposed to actually!

The Alfa Romeo, is a very popular subject!

Thank you for popping in! -I hope to see more of you in the future!

    Hello Don!

Thank you very much for your friendly welcome!

Yes, anyone I know and my person are fine so long – thank you! I hope you and your family are also well!?

I am not sure why you ask for an Alfa, my profile picture is a Maserati A6 Frua bodied full size car.

To be honest: I am a „virtual“ modelbuilder in the moment too…when I will work on a projekt, perhaps I post some pictures of it.

„Actually“ I collect photos, articles, sometimes models of the famous builders like Carlo Brianza, Andre Marie Ruf, Marshall Buck, Manuel Olive Sans and Michele Conti since the late seventees.

It would be very interesting if you or ther members of the forum could tell something about the history of the two Conti models 365 GTC and 330 GTC, contemporary articles, first owners and so on?

The red 330 GTC (featured on (your?) site "conticollector", I am the current owner) was produced in 1969 has license plates of Padua/Italy. Unfortunatly I haven`t got more information so long.

    Stay healthy!
    With kind regards
    Jens

Andre Marie Ruf produced some very nice 1/43 model kits in white metal, mostly of Ferraris. While you're checking out AMR, you should also search for Vincenzo Bosica...

Here's a couple of pictures of my build of his 1/43 Ferrari 126 C2 (Excuse the quality, these were way before digital photography)
