Talked to one of the locals yesterday and he says RM is comming out with an 8th scale "75th Anniversary" Deuce in August. Does anyone know if its going to be the same kit or something different?

As far as I heard fron the grapevine, the only change is supposed to be the box art. What I'm hoping is that they hit up a focus group to see if they wanted something else like a stock parts option, some different wheels or engine parts but as we've seen a bunch of times before, we're going to get the same kit. I just hope they don't up the price.

If we are the strong group in the 1/8 field we believe we are how about we all email our feelings to some contact at RM? Maybe we could convince someone we should be considered a focus group.

Its worth a try Syd but for the record a bunch of us from the old BSM group tried that years ago and we didn't even get the courtesy of a responce. Perhaps if someone here knows someone in the RM Ivory Tower, we could get something going.

As per the RM rep - only the box art has changed. No new parts.

Hey Syd, I agree with you that we would be the best focus group but I also unfortunately agree with Rick that they'll ignore us completely. There is a solution and we're already on the right track. That solution is what Dan is doing now and that's producing a ton and a half of aftermarket parts with the help of those sending him masters. The next logical step would be to make kits ourselves but that's a pretty difficult proposition when you consider how many parts we'd have to master for one kit. My solution is to turn as many modelers into scratchbuilders so that we all would become free of the kit and could build whatever we wanted. We'd share our techniques with each other so if someone wants to build a similar model, they can. I'm a bit of a pie in the sky kind of guy and one heck of a dreamer so take what I say with a grain of salt.   Ah, what great dreams.

I guess you are right because with Don and Dan's help I will be able to build an original version 32 ford. The prototype block will be finished with the front end Don is sending. The heads, tranny and water pumps will be done by Wednesday and should have pictures by then. Who needs Revell ? We just need scrap kits or all the parts Dan can provide.

Now you have the attitude, Syd. Who needs Revell when we have SMC. We're the pioneers of the large scale kit world. We can offer trans kits, new bodies and anything else we want. The sky's the limit.

I'll stick my big nose in here, if that's O.K.

Bob's dead on....new box, same kit. They say August but don't count on it. RM has a habit of postponing releases. They always have a good reason and when you get right down to it...they have the best show in town, give credit where it's due.
As far as lobbying, begging, pleading etc. goes....it ain't gonna happen. The bean counters call the shots and unless the $$$ justify it, your time would be better spent learning to scratch build what we need and helping each other. That's just my opinion from past experience. Wish I could be more positive but the additions they made to the Big Deuce and T kits (as far as I know) is going to be it for awhile. I've tried to get them to reintroduce the parts packs...blower, etc..No dice.

I'll contact Supermodeler and see what he can do. He hasn't let me down yet.
