    hi there

just thought i would share the new project i started in the new year.i drew out a plan from a friends actual caravan which i changed slightly as he says their are never two exactly alike.the frame of the body was just 2x1 softwood that i got from the local timber yard a milled it to desired sizes,i was in luck as i changed a maghony door at a clients house and used this for the floor and will use to make furniture.the ply wood was 4mm which isnt ture scale but i had a full sheet and was buggered if i would buy more at 1.5mm.the wheels i cheated on as they are to be painted so i made them from mdf the center block is resein <---(spelling) which i turned on my lathe.the model is just under 3ft long to give an idea on size.pictures show progress. any questions please ask i will try to answer

    cheers for reading

    phil

just to add the roof is a separarte bit which lifts off so the inside can be worked on and updated and the model is based on the 1900s /1910s era so will have aoil lamps and coal pot belly stove i have toyed with the idea of building a traction engine to tow it and the make it an irsh road workers dwelling.which i havnt dismissed yet but will make the model naer 6feet long when coupled up which is big to store

Phil, really looks great and very timely for me. I just got my hands on scale drawing of the Concord Coach which I will be building a some point in the future. I was thinking I saw strange to go with a coach with all these fantastic cars being built so you have given a greate sence of security. Thanks again and keep the pics coming.

Like Syd mentioned, this brings something new to the site that we never had before. It's beautiful. I for one am looking forward to the wagon's completion.

Here's a site that will help anybody who wants to do wooden wheels the correct way and to scale, very interesting to have a read through the site and plenty of information freely available in the Tips and Hints section.

    Scale Model Horse Drawn Vehicles

Then for a real eye opener, go have a look though this lot, it's the forum for the above site, make sure you look through the section -- Progression of a model -- there's some spectacular models hiding away in that lot.
